Help review Product Description
Help movie was released Dec 06, 2011 by the Touchstone / Disney studio. The Help stars Emma Stone as Skeeter, Academy Award–nominated Viola Davis as Aibileen and Octavia Spencer as Minny-three very different, extraordinary women in Mississippi during the 1960s, who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk. From their improbable alliance a remarkable sisterhood emerges, instilling all of them with the courage to transcend the lines that define them, and the realization that sometimes those lines are made to be crossed-even if it means bringing everyone in town face-to-face with the changing times.
A 1960s-era Mississippi debutante sends her community into an uproar by conducting a series of probing interviews with the black servants behind some of her community's most prominent families. Skeeter (Emma Stone) has just graduated from college, and she's eager to launch her career as a writer. In a moment of inspiration, Skeeter decides to focus her attention on the black female servants who work in her community. ...See Full Description

| Worth the money This was a really good movie. I laughed, I thought, I almost cried. This one does take you through some of the mentality and history of '60s, to include the death of Megar Evers (sp?) and civil rights protests breaking out. I think the surprise character of this one is Celia Foote, played by Jessica Chastain. I've never heard of her (the actress), but, if you listen to her character talk, you'd swear you were watching the late Brittany Murphy (did the voiceover of Luanne on "King of the Hill"). Celia's not wrapped, but Minny (Octavia Spencer) handles her just fine. Be sure to check out the bonus video of Mary J. Blige's "The Living Proof." Definitely worth the money and your time. | The Help that helped the Bored & Lazy White Folk! This for me was just more evidence of how un-educated, ignorant, selfish, arrogant, bored and lazy white folk were and still are. How could they treat another human being so poorly and get away with it? The sad thing is, they would treat their own kin just as bad, but not do so in such a condescending way. It also shows how shallow all who acted like that and treat another human being that poorly. I l.m.a.o. when she made that woman eat her blank. I also appreciated how they loved the white peoples children more than the white people loved their own children, everything for them was just status and how things appeared to their neighbors and the town. All I got to say about that is "Who Cares"! If I was a descendant of someone who was either superficially racist or deep down racist like the racist groups back then and now, I would be so ashamed of having that person or those persons in my family.
