A Must-Have Recording For Any Theatre Fan
Stephen Sondheim's Follies is the stuff of legends. For those lucky enough to have seen the original Broadway production, it is a show that stays in the memory. For those, like me, who first heard it in the wonderful Lincoln Center concert version in 1985, it was a revelation. This newest recording, with the current Broadway revival cast is almost as good. Having seen the production this past fall, I eagerly awaited the release of the cast album and was pleasantly surprised to hear most of the dialogue recorded as well. This is a great asset in understanding the show if you have not seen it. Many of the performances are first rate. I highly recommend this recording, whether you are a die-hard Sondheim fan or a novice. It is a great recording and well packaged too with some stiking photographs of the revival.
