Jethro Tull Nothing Is Easy: Live at the Isle of Wight 1970 CD (2004)
Live at the Mar y Sol Festival '72 songs There is an energetic raggedness to the playing here that seems strangely out of keeping with the meticulous, art-rock constructions usually associated with Tull. But the raw, churning energy works creates magic charm, with Martin Barre's crunching electric guitar and Clive Bunker's thunderous drumming surging to the fore. In fact, Tull are at their best in this performance on "Dharma for One," which merges blasts of hard-hitting rock noise with Anderson's incantatory vocals and lyrical ruminations on intellectual and spiritual themes. In addition to capturing Jethro Tull's contribution to the Isle of Wight festival for posterity, NOTHING IS EASY is a vivid snapshot of one of the '70s most revered prog-rock bands in their fiery youth.
The legendary 1970 Isle of Wight festival is sometimes thought of as England's Woodstock. Alongside such strange bedfellows as Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, and Tiny Tim, Jethro Tull put on a raucous, energetic stage performance captured here on NOTHING IS EASY. Even through their loudly amplified, festival-sized sound, the true Tull hallmarks are here, including Ian Anderson's haunting, minstrel-esque flute lines ("Bouree") and folky, acoustic guitar-driven compositions, which touch on weighty themes ("My God").

Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Beyond the Beginning DVDs (2005)
Live at the Mar y Sol Festival '72 buy CD music A name that is synonymous with 1970s rock, Emerson, Lake & Palmer have some of their career highlights gathered here. The band typified the prog-rock noodling of the early '70s, with keyboard player Keith Emerson frequently peppering their offerings with lengthy solos that demonstrated his seemingly limitless abilities. Their live shows were as loftily ambitious as their music, with each tour offering bigger stage sets, longer songs, and a blissful experience for ears that were finely-tuned to a popular trend that soon became wildly unfashionable with the dawning of punk rock. This eclectic collection brings together various oddities such as TV appearances, promotional videos, a documentary about the band, and a 44 minute jam from a 1974 California festival.
This stunning 2-dvd set puts together great moments from one of the '70's most succesful and exciting bands. It features performances from every stage of their career, including 44 minutes of ELP headlining the massive California Festival in 1974 on disc 2, previously never released. Also included on the second disc is the full-length version of the documentary "Beyond the Beginning," Disc 1 features music videos by the band from all over the world, Isle of Wight montage, rehearsal, Brands Hatch celebrity motor race with ELP, lots more.

Asia Omega CD (2010)
Live at the Mar y Sol Festival '72 CD music With the release of 2010's Omega by the reunited original lineup of Asia, the supergroup matches its output of two studio albums from its first go round. Vocalist/bass guitarist John Wetton, guitarist Steve Howe, keyboardist Geoff Downes, and drummer Carl Palmer were progressive rock all-stars who joined forces for the massively successful, chart-topping Asia in 1982 and Alpha in 1983 before splitting -- an inevitability for virtually every supergroup. The quartet re-formed in 2006, toured extensively, and issued a live album and DVD before releasing the strong studio album Phoenix in 2008. Omega is a conscious effort to shake up Asia's style a bit while remaining true to the band's DNA of soaring pop songs dazzlingly performed by virtuosos. Wetton's resonant voice (infinitely layered in chorus harmonies -- an Asia trademark) and tastefully effective bass guitar, Howe's spidery, fluid guitar lines, Downes' richly versatile keyboard parts, and Palmer's booming rhythmic bedrock are still in place, but producer Mike Paxman has stripped the sound down a smidgen in spots. "Finger on the Trigger" (originally recorded by Wetton and Downes for their Icon project in 2006) and "Holy War" are spirited hard rock volleys. "Through My Veins" is slyly catchy. "Listen, Children" is a cheery feel-good song sparked by uplifting lyrics and Downes and Howe's smooth tradeoffs at the end. "Light the Way" and "I Believe" both sound huge thanks to the '80s production feel wholly appropriate for Asia; in fact, "I Believe" would have fit nicely on either Asia or Alpha. The brooding "There Was a Time" is a highlight, and it's enhanced by a complex arrangement. "Emily," a song about unrequited love for a lesbian, is the unremarkable bonus track included on the digipack first pressing of Omega. Phoenix has better songs overall than Omega -- probably due to the initial excitement and creative surge spawned by the reunion -- but Omega satisfies, and longtime fans will enjoy it. Omega is undeniably -- and reliably -- Asia being Asia. ~ Bret Adams
2010 album from the Prog Rock supergroup featuring all four original members: John Wetton (King Crimson/UK), Steve Howe (Yes), Carl Palmer (ELP) and Geoffrey Downes (The Buggles). While the band was an enormous success when they debuted in 1982, the original quartet fractured and Howe left in 1984. It wasn't until 2006 that the original foursome reconvened for a tour and then a new studio album in 2008. Two years on from that album, Omega finds all four members at a new creative peak. First pressing limited edition digipak including 1 bonus track! Frontiers.

Live at Nassau Coliseum '78 CDs (2011) Top Seller
Live at the Mar y Sol Festival '72 album for sale Recorded in February of 1978, this performance was only available as a bootleg until the folks at Shout! Factory expertly cleaned it up for an official release by going back to the original tapes and creating one of the best-sounding live ELP records on the market. The two-disc live set captures Emerson, Lake & Palmer at a crucial point in their careers: they were on their final tour, and though things would soon turn sour, these recordings show that on-stage they were still at the peak of their powers. The previous year, they released the two-volume Works, which exemplified the degree to which the three men were moving in different directions by giving each member an LP side to himself. At the end of 1978, they would release the universally reviled Love Beach album to fulfill their contractual obligation and would disband soon after, not performing together again until 1992. Regardless of these tribulations, on the night in question, they delivered a phenomenal performance of material from all across their career. There are the Greg Lake-centric melodic ballads, like "Take a Pebble" and "Lucky Man," where the singer's big, bold voice sounds unassailably excellent; instrumentals like "Hoedown," where Keith Emerson stretches out and shows his keyboard mastery in no uncertain terms, and perhaps most impressive, we get such epics as "Tarkus," "Pictures at an Exhibition," and "Pirates," where all three players shine both individually and as an ensemble. When they were playing off of and responding to each other the way they do here, there was no finer band in all of prog rock, and the obvious TLC that was taken in preparing these recordings for release gives listeners the chance to experience ELP's awesome interplay with an unprecedented level of vividness. ~ J. Allen

Live in California 1974 CD (2012) Top Seller
Live at the Mar y Sol Festival '72 buy CD music Of all the ELP live shows, The California Jam stands as the largest audience the British prog rockers had ever played for, and a personal favorite performance of vocalist Greg Lake. In the spring following Brain Salad Surgery, the trio's abilities were at a high for this set recorded at the epic outdoor venue, Ontario Motor Speedway. Because each member started to go his own way around this time, a good share of Live in California 1974 focuses on Emerson, Lake & Palmer's individual abilities. "Still. You Turn Me On" and the mega-hit "Lucky Man" are performed solo by Lake on acoustic guitar, "Piano Improvisations (Including 'Fugue' and 'Little Rock Getaway')" features Keith Emerson turning in nearly seven minutes of virtuoso piano playing before the rhythm section of Lake and Palmer join in for a tightly executed bebop jazz approximation, and the classic rock staple "Karn Evil 9, First Impression, Pt. 2" segues into a gratuitous, five-minute-long (albeit pretty amazing) drum solo by Carl Palmer. Welcome Back My Friends to the Show That Never Ends: Ladies & Gentlemen, Emerson Lake & Palmer, and From the Front Row.Live! are much better live documents from this period, but despite sonic imperfections, the firework finale of "Pictures at an Exhibition" captures the ambitious and dramatic spirit of the band nicely. ~ Jason Lymangrover
