Silent Hill: Downpour Soundtrack When longtime Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka left Konami in 2009, Daniel Licht was drafted as his replacement to write music for the long-running survival horror game series. Licht knows a thing or two about horror scores, having composed music for several of Clive Barker's films as well as the Showtime TV series Dexter. The music for the PS Vita game Silent Hill: Book of Memories was Licht's second Silent Hill score released in 2012, and like his first, Downpour, it maintains the tradition of Yamaoka's music while putting his own spin on it. The mix of eerie beauty and deeply unsettling horror in Yamaoka's scores was a significant part of what made Silent Hill one of the most acclaimed video game series of the '90s and 2000s, and Licht represents both qualities with tracks such as the gently creepy "Opening the Book" and "Save Yourself," and more vicious cues like "The Earth Boss" and "The Steel Boss."
