| Brilliantly Crafted Album, Best of the Year
This is Mr. Bird's most remarkable achievement yet. He and his band must be spending a lot of time together. Each track sounds effortless and fun. The compositions are unpredictable and complex but also melodic and atmospheric. The recording sound old school, ultra-analog and warm. The vinyl version of 'Break It Yourself' sounds much more 3-dimensional than the CD, though either version is well worth the money. The best part of the CD version is the bonus DVD (amazingly candid and worth repeated viewing). When there's this many good tracks on one release, it's a real feat.
