Il Volo Takes Flight: Live from the Detroit Opera House album Product Description
Il Volo Takes Flight: Live from the Detroit Opera House album by Il Volo was released Feb 28, 2012 on the Geffen label. Recorded for a PBS fundraising special on one of their first ever North American shows, Il Volo Takes Flight: Live from the Detroit Opera House is the first live album from Il Volo, the Italian teenage trio dubbed as the Three Tenors meets the Jonas Brothers. Il Volo Takes Flight: Live from the Detroit Opera House songs Produced by Grammy-winner Humberto Gatica (Michael Bublé) and Italian composer Tony Renis, it features eight performances of tracks from their self-titled Billboard Top Ten debut, including "E Piu' Ti Penso," the medley of Morricone themes from Once Upon a Time in America and Malena, an emotive take on Charlie Chaplin's "Smile," and two songs that allude to their American Idol connections in the shape of the Diane Warren-penned "La Luna Hizo Esto," a bilingual duet with 2011 finalist Pia Toscano, and the bossa nova-tinged reworking of "'O Sole Mio" that launched them to fame in both the U.S. and their homeland. Elsewhere, there are new recordings of Neapolitan classics such as "Funiculi' Funicula'," "Non Ti Scordar di Me," and "Mattinata," and expressive renditions of Agustín Lara's "Granada" and Jimmy Fontana's "Il Mondo," all of which showcase their impressively mature and warm romantic tones in front of a lush 66-piece orchestra and a receptive sellout crowd. ...See Full Description

Il Volo CD (2011) Top Seller
Il Volo Takes Flight: Live from the Detroit Opera House CD music Following in the footsteps of Il Divo and the Three Tenors, Il Volo offers soaring opera pop on the group's self-titled debut. Unlike those acts, however, the three members of Il Volo were in their teens when they recorded these songs, which include bona fide opera selections like "'O Sole Mio" -- which the trio was discovered singing on the Italian talent show Ti Lascio Une Canzone -- as well as standards such as "Smile" and new pop material, including a pair of songs penned by Diane Warren, "Painfully Beautiful" and "La Luna Hizo Esto." It's no surprise Il Volo appeared on American Idol and worked with Josh Groban producer Humberto Gatica on this album; it's polished, romantic music from talented young vocalists and perfectly targeted to classical crossover fans. ~ Heather Phares

Jackie Evancho Dream with Me CD (2011) Top Seller
Il Volo Takes Flight: Live from the Detroit Opera House songs Dream with Me, the long awaited full-length (non-seasonal) debut from "then" ten-year-old soprano Jackie Evancho, was produced by David Foster and comes stocked with all of the arias, show tunes, and pop classics one has come to expect from classically trained phenoms like Evancho, Charlotte Church, and Josh Groban. As far as classical-pop crossover collections go, Dream with Me hits all of the right notes, though there are few surprises or big moments to be found. Opening with an age-appropriate, sweetly sung rendition of "When You Wish Upon A Star," the collection offers up duets with Barbara Streisand ("Somewhere") and Susan Boyle ("A Mother's Prayer"), a lovely cover of Sarah McLachlan's "Angel," a pair of Puccini arias ("Nessun Dorma," "O Mio Babbino Caro"), and a handful of handcrafted originals from Foster and friends, resulting in a solid "official" debut from a rising star at the dawn of her career. ~ James Christopher Monger

We Are Love CD (2012) Top Seller
Deluxe Edition
Il Volo Takes Flight: Live from the Detroit Opera House CD music Recorded in Los Angeles and Rome under the watch of Grammy-winning co-producer Humberto Gatica and Tony Renis, the second studio album from dreamy teenage tenors Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto, and Gianluca Ginoble, better known as Il Volo, begins appropriately with a sweeping rendition of the Dianne Warren/Aerosmith power ballad "Questo Amore [I Don't Want to Miss a Thing]," dutifully extending the already lengthy 21st century bridge between commercial pop and classical. The trio, which first turned heads on the popular Italian talent show Ti Lascio una Canzone, brings an excitable, youthful bravado to the 12-track We Are Love's more pop-oriented offerings like Warren's newly written "I Bring You to My Senses," U2's "Beautiful Day," and the Mark Portmann-penned title cut, the latter two of which are the only songs sung in English. The more traditional, operatic/classically minded pieces, while seamless, soaring, and impossibly pretty in all the right places, lack the gravitas to truly make the listener swoon, a notion that's lent further weight when the great Placido Domingo steps in halfway through "Il Canto" and effectively steals the show. [A deluxe edition of We Are Love includes their 2011 five-song Christmas Favorites EP, which included both the English and German versions of "Silent Night."] ~ James Christopher Monger
