Amaryllis album Product Description
Amaryllis album by Shinedown was released Mar 26, 2012 on the Atlantic (Label) label. Preceded by the emotionally charged first single "Bully," Amaryllis is the fourth studio album from Jacksonville, Florida-based post-grunge outfit Shinedown. The 12-track collection represents the first set of new material from the group since 2008's Sound of Madness. Recording information: Capitol Studios; Lightning Sound Studios; No Excuses Studio; Ocean Way Recording. Photographer: James Minchin III. Personnel: Brent Smith (vocals); Eric Bass (guitar, piano, background vocals); Rob Cavallo (guitar, keyboards); Zach Myers (guitar, background vocals); Dave Bassett, Tim Pierce (guitar); Jamie Muhoberac (piano, keyboards); Barry Kerch (drums, percussion); The West Los Angeles Children's Choir. Audio Mixer: Chris Lord-Alge. Billboard (p. 28) - "AMARYLLIS is the Florida band's tightest, most action-oriented effort yet. It wisely emphasizes Shinedown's muscular groove and sharp hook sense..." Kerrang (Magazine) (p. 52) - "Shinedown's music is still peppered with class -- great hooks and Brent Smith's commanding vocals lift 'I'll Follow You' and 'Unity' from the realms of radio fodder into songs that will, for some, strike a light in the darkness."

| I know critics hate this band, bitch this band about but ... I've been listening to them since 'Leave a Whisper' circa 2003 and all I get is how BASHING the critics can get since then. The band isn't much of a unit except it circles around one member doing MUCH of the writing just once 'Us and Them' proved to be the breakthrough, then came the song "Second Chance" which was a CROSSOVER hit. Whatever 'Leave a Whisper' has done, you'll keep getting it EVEN IF as it shows on this LP. If you don't like it, then you ought to have listened to 'Leave a Whisper' IN THE FIRST PLACE. Imo, the unit keeps getting better in SONGWRITING and it could take MANY listens to sink in, esp "Bully", which explains why some will like it and some won't. I don't mind it. What will be hard to feat, tho, is 'The Sound of Madness' had great songs like "Devour" and "Second Chance" on it. I will just diss the naysayers and dig this album! | what a load of rubbish "radio friendly pop-rock" - critics describe it. Thats exactly what it is: a lame, nothing original, weak streamline top 40, I would give it a 0, if it was possible...It is really sad that this kind of garbage sells and people pay for this trash...
