Excellent collection of the Queen of Soul's '80s/90s hits!
Knew You Were Waiting: The Best of Aretha Franklin 1980-1998 CD music Aretha Franklin purists will say--She should have stayed on Atlantic Records and have a lifetime contract and not go on any other record label again because of all of her classic hits on there such as Respect. Knew You Were Waiting: The Best of Aretha Franklin 1980-1998 buy CD music But she proved that she could also be successful on Arista Records in the '80s and '90s, as this collection justifies. Knew You Were Waiting: The Best of Aretha Franklin 1980-1998 songs All the hits from Jump to It to Freeway of Love to A Rose is Still a Rose to her duets with George Benson, Elton John, Whitney Houston, Annie Lennox and others. I was very impressed at how Aretha did these songs and albums even in MTV-driven music video-obsessed decades. She stayed true to herself. A few times she did get too trendy, as on the 1991 album, but she stayed mostly to her soul-driven songs on other albums. She still records and performs, but now on her own record label. But these 16 songs from her Arista years add another chapter to her music career along with the Atlantic era. And she even won Grammy awards for some of these songs too! This collection of songs will be just as timeless 20 years from now as her others.
