This two-disc career retrospective from Art Garfunkel features 34 hand-picked tracks that touch on nearly every phase of the golden-throated, Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter's long career, skillfully bridging the gap between 1964's Wednesday Morning, 3AM, his Simon & Garfunkel debut, and Some Enchanted Evening, his 2007 collection of Great American Songbook standards. Adhering to no specific time line, Garfunkel provides detailed, unique, and occasionally humorous annotations throughout the booklet, shedding new insights on the inception of classic tracks like "Cecilia," "Bridge Over Troubled Water," "A Hazy Shade of Winter," "For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her," and "April Come She Will." Rolling Stone (p. 76) - 4.5 stars out of 5 -- "THE SINGER is a masterpiece of subtlety. Garfunkel is obviously capable of bravura moments, as on Jimmy Webb's 'Skywriter,' but he's a master of restraint." Singer CD music is a 2-disc set with 40 songs.
