The inclusion by Fripp of the show in its entirety documents not only one of the band's last performances but one of its finest. Opening with "Larks Tongues, Part Two" and continuing into a lusty version of "Lament," the band then breaks through into the poignant strains of "Exiles," resting momentarily then revealing the magnificent 14-minute improv piece "A Voyage to the Centre of the Cosmos." Mind Blowing!!!!!
King Crimson was at its absolute peak when they went on tour in 1973-74. This is the band that recorded the much under apreciated albums, "Larks' Tounges in Aspic" and "Starless and Bible Black". After this tour they would lose violin and keyboard player David Cross and record the classic trio album "Red". "The Great Decevier Parts 1 & 2" is actually a re-release of an out-of-print box set by the same name. The music numbers include tunes of the albums at the time and also some Improv jam numbers that are outstanding. The musicianship is powerful throughout the discs. The liner notes also include snipets of Robert Fripp's diary of the tour. Of all the live Crimson discs out there to choose from, this collection is my favorite. Highly recommended!!!!!!
