Slipstream music CDs Rolling Stone (p. 64) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "It's mood music with a razor edge, pain fronting as bliss, delivered by a vet who understands that the blues are often about just that." Entertainment Weekly (p. 82) - "Her slide-guitar playing throughout is superb, and she slips her purring voice into every song like a letter going into an envelope addressed just to you." -- Grade: A- Q (Magazine) (p. 105) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Raitt aims to balance the new and the old. She achieves it on the choppy funk and vivid lyrics of 'Used To Rule The World'..." Mojo (Publisher) (p. 87) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Raitt -- like her East Coast counterpart Judy Collins -- remains a master interpreter of song." Uncut (magazine) (p. 80) - "SLIPSTREAM relies on Bonnie's voice and slide playing -- and, above all, her felicitous ability to pick the right song."

| Bonnie covers all the bases... I give SLIPSTREAM a 5 star review as Bonnie hasn't sounded this all together since her early 90's slew of sonic perfection. Taking the best of what she does Bonnie has crafted a collection of tunes that high light her rocking, blues, soul and pop sides and thrown in some major cool funk to round out all these tunes. To add more icing on the cake Bonnie teamed up with Joe Henry and cut 4 incredible cuts that point Bonnie in some really creative directions. The 2 Dlyan cuts are sublime choices as well as the Henry penned numbers. The late Gerry Rafferty's late 70's gem "Right down the line" kick starts this whole affair with a canny regaee skank& a well chosen cover. "Use to rule the world" and "Take my love with you" as well as "Not cause I wanted to" and "You can't fail me know",(great songs and songwriters showcased here)as well as just plain outstanding singing. The sound, engineering, production from both Raitt and Henry as well as the talents of the her band and the musicans from the Henry crew shine on every cut, making this a 5 star collection and one of the best Cd's that came out over the 2012 year.
