| Astronomicly Good Not being close to the best Disney animation, or the best Disney animated movie. Treasure planet is still my favorite. An inspirational movie for all of the space buffs out there like myself. It truly relates with the person watching and gives you a sense of being an astronaut. By scitim2000 ((ex. | PRETTY DAMN FINE Treasure Planet video I thought I wouldn't like this movie when I originally heard how it was being 'updated' but I gave it a fair watch for the simple fact that I am a huge Treasure Island fan. Yes, Silver is quite toned down where his undeniable ruthlessness and self-interest is concerned, but this IS Disney. Bearing such in mind, I found myself quite surprised at how much I enjoyed this film. Quite fun on the whole, I found the personalities and characterizations of most of the voice actors to be spot on, when this being a work of Disney is kept in mind. I loved it, in fact. The first Disney effort I've loved since the mid-ninties. By Sara (NY, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| Grab the popcorn! Treasure Planet film For this movie, keep in mind it's going to end happily, as it's a kid's movie, but it's very enjoyable and full of humor as well as action. Treasure Planet review There's plenty of plot and character development on the way, facing emotions of abandonment and the anger left in him in Jim Hawkin's case. Each dynamic character, focusing on Jim and Silver especially, has to change a bit and overcome a part of their own personality, one especially being of seperating themselves from others. No main character is a stereotypical bad guy or good guy, each person having his or her own morals and flaws. If your expecting low simple dialect, think again in the presence of the rather strong-willed captain. A few of her comments might rush right over the lil'luns heads but leaves a good sense of what she's still speaking about for them. Don't forget the simple flat characters that add humor and lend a hand, such as Morph, Silver's little pink-shapeshifting-blob-of-a-side kick, and B.E.N. The setting of the movie is full of depth and has it's own feel to it, keeping an oceanic sense as well as that past times' feel with the basic idea of sailing, the clothing they wear, and the basic look to things, but still has all it's futuristic glory with the laser cannons, robots, and all sorts of aliens. The animation and cgi work blends rather well through most of the movie, but don't expect a perfect harmony, it's still distinguishable from each other. The music fits fantastically into the storyline, and the entire set up is quick and consise while leaving a feeling of getting enough. This movie promises to give you a good time and leave you with a good feeling in your heart, but if all you enjoy is action and revenge, then I wouldn't recommend this to you. | Not as cool as I thought! I can't belive this movie, I mean c'mon It is so SAD to make Jim, the cool solar-surfer CRIES IN THE MOVIE!!! Also Cyborg, the criminal, acts friendly, and means it at the end! WHAT CRAP!!! It was enough to turn any Jim Hawkins fan AWAY FROM THIS MOVIE!!!!
