| Rush Still Rocks the House Clockwork Angels CD music Rush has been one of those amazing examples of a rock band that doesn't follow trends in order to sell records. Clockwork Angels shows that even after almost 40 years Rush is still going where they want, instead of where they should. Or at least where everybody else thought they should have gone. Considering everything that Neil, Alex & Geddy have been through over the almost 40 yrs they have been making music together, it speaks volumes that they are still friends, still playing, and most impressively, still making fantastic music. Unlike some bands from the '70s that haven't written or recorded anything new in 25-30 yrs but still tour the county-fair circuit playing their old "classic rock" catalog, Rush is touring behind their 20th (I think) original studio record. With the notable exception of the FEEDBACK record - released to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the original RUSH record from 1974 - Rush has always written, produced and recorded only original compositions. Clockwork Angels shows, once again, why Rolling Stone Magazine and the rest of the "Lame-Stream" rock media are idiots. The best that RS could do is a quick little review in the July 5-19, 2012 issue #1160/1161. On page 103, reviewer Jon Dolan says, "... Neil Peart's dragon-tailed para-diddles and Alex Lifeson's helix solos make the koanic hokum of Peart's lyrics feel like a sermon from the peak of Mount Nerd." Koanic hokum? Couldn't it just be said that this is a good record and if you like the music of, say, for instance, Nickelback, and aren't all that familiar with Rush besides 2112 or "Tom Sawyer", you might want to give this CD a listen. You'll find that this isn't your father's RUSH., . By Jimi (The Pacific North-Wet!) |
| Awesome It's great when a band gets along with each other and they enjoy making music. This is reflected & obvious through out the album. Clockwork Angles & Wish Them Well" are two of my favorite tracks on this CD. Well worth checking out. By georgeaclark (Oakland Gardens, NY) This review is for a different format. |
| Pride In The Name Of RUSH Been a Rush fan forever, still play their old stuff on my guitar. This album more than any other makes me proud to be a Rush fan. It's a big proggy story and the music and playing are awesome. As stated the more you listen the more is revealed, there is so much going on here. It's so dense in fact that the initial listen can be overwhelming and you can't grok it all so some may pass it off but true fans will be rewarded. And if you are new to Rush prepare to be blown away by this "power trio" By evalsch (Livermore, CA, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| RUSH / C.A. / A Steam Punk Winner!!! This has to be one of the best Rush albums in 2 decades. While it does take several listens to love. Love it , you will. Back are Alex's traditional guitar solos , Moog synths , piano and beautiful sounding strings. Every song is connected by music , not just silence like any great Pink Floyd album. However , the lyrics and music are more upbeat and hopeful. Even old Rush fans who only like their 1970s music will love this album. There is also a novel that you can buy that goes with this album. What is truly amazing is that Rush can come out with an excellent and innovative album this late in their career. How many other bands in all of rock history can claim that?
