| Transitions A wonderful visit to a transition phase in Miles' career- delightful By TopCat (Red Bank, NJ) This review is for a different format. |
| Beginnings These recordings are the first for Davis as a leader and the beginning of his famous collaborations with Gil Evans. Though this is a must own for any Davis fan, jazz historian, or serious jazz musician, Davis and Evans were just discovering their approach, so many of the songs sound very similar. Davis is just beginning to show the lyrical and harmonic insight which would be in full bloom with 'Porgy and Bess' just a few years later. By St.Davey (Windham, Me.)
