Hurry & grab this masterpiece before unavailability: Fania just got sold again! Edited pieces of this have been out before, but moles digging in a Hudson NY warehouse found this as it should be and Emusica (iffy in the past) did a superb job on it! Missing from this historic live session (the liner notes are better than an MBA re how to get business going) is Celia Cruz's performance there of "Bemba colora`" (bet I know who snuck it out - they're both dead!) - but if you've her original studio on Tico ("Son con guaguanco`" album), that's better anyway. Did you know Manu Dibango comes out of nowhere to solo on tenor on the closing Ray Barretto ("on" throughout)-Mongo Santamaria classic duel "Congo bongo`?" You'll know again why everyone loved Hector Lavoe (skip the flick), why Johnny Pacheco is/was one of the greats in the biz and Larry Harlow is/was one of THE great Latin pianists! OHMIGOD!
