||A Classic example of fine acting at it's best!|
This 1959 movies is a fine example of an excellent storyline though with some mis-givings. However, the storyline is well done with its in-depth insight into certain aspects, and they are there though you have to study this film for them they are subdued, regarding the historical nature of India, certain cultures, and British dominion in India at those time periods. l find the history of India is somewhat lacking in the West. especially in 1959. Now? Also, the British film title"Northwest Frontier" is more apt from an historical and cultural point of view as it sets a geographical handle for the viewing audience to grasp onto. It lay in the North of India near Nepal and Pakistan. More material of an historical note should have been added but....... I believe the US release title "Flame over India" is more "Hollywood". Pity. Why could'nt they combine the titles? Lauran Bacallthe young Indian Princes teacher-nanny is superb as Kenneth Mores aka Captain Scott, British Army "Flame". Cannot forget "Gulpta" the Engineer-Engine Driver of the steam loco. One item, though, l felt the "Military Bearing" of Captain Scott was not up to the level it should have been as he was the sole "British Army Authority" on that train. His law and order is supposed to be it. No questions asked. I see this was sudued by the director for certain viweing reasons for the audience. The scenery of the country side featured, l felt was superb. I loved it all. Lastly, not to be missed. A film of merit. The cast is first rate. Thank you.

||One of the best action films of all time|
This is a seriously under-rated, but brilliant film. No element is ignored in a superb portrait of the troubles of the Raj in the last days of the 19th century. It is a Western of the East. The whole picture boils down to a wonderful suspense film, featuring a Train with a mind of it's own, a clever and fanatical villain, and a lot of "stiff upper lip". The greatest scene in British Film History ? ....The discovery of the Indian Train, and the massacred passengers. Just feel the poignancy of that moment....

Found it at last... Everyone should watch this film - great acting, great scenery and funny, but touching as well. I was with them the whole train journey! This will become a film you'll watch again and again.
