Living Things album by Linkin Park was released Jun 26, 2012 on the Warner Bros. label. Nu-metal stalwarts Linkin Park return with their fifth album, Living Things, a more personal effort than their previous releases. Teaming again with Rick Rubin, who's worked on all of their albums since Minutes to Midnight, they continue to refine their sound, bringing together all of their individual musical interests while using the songwriting instincts they've honed over the years to create something that's both new and distinctly Linkin Park. After the more experimental A Thousand Suns, it seems like the band is ready incorporate all of the lessons learned on its sonic journeys into one cohesive sound, which fans can check out on the album's first single, "Burn It Down," which was released early in 2012. getting back to their basics...
this one is certainly better than their last album, but still too much electronica relative to their early, pure, raw rocking first CD's. I enjoy it cuz its LP but already looking forward to their next album. Also waiting to see them live at riverbend this month!!!

Finally.
Normally, I'd rate this album a 4, but after the complete and utter trash that was Minutes to Midnight and whatever their fourth album was called, I have to 5* Living Things just because Linkin Park finally put their lady-parts away and reversed direction: back towards their older sound. This album is by no means on par with Hybrid Theory or Meteora, but it's light years better than what they've released in recent years. Here's to hoping they stay on this new path.

Nice blend of the old and the new
Here's an album that brings together all the elements that made this band so popular. Though not an absolute return to nu-metal, it does have those moments of "melodious explosions" followed by artistically crafted songs with variation both in intensity and style that finally gives a sense of completeness and closure.

Great CD
I'm not of fan of rap at all, but this album employs all kind of diverse sounds, heart felt lyics, it's just a masterpiece.
