| A great step for Phil
On ... But Seriously, Phil Collins combines the atmospherics of "Face Value" with the hit-making potential of "No Jacket Required". What this created was a personal, somewhat moody record that not only was personally and artistically satisfying, but could also appeal more to the public than usual. It was a master-stroke for Phil to bring in David Crosby, from Crosby, Stills & Nash, to help out with some of the harmonies. Their voices on the major hit, "Another Day In Paradise", absolutely shimmer. But that isn't the only highlight. "I Wish It Would Rain Down" is a suburban epic, with Eric Clapton on guitar, and the song "That's Just The Way It Is" is one of Phil's best ballads that doesn't drown in sentimentality. Now, this album doesn't drown itself in ballads, but it gets close, with the slight sappinesss (for Phil) of "All Of My Life" and "Do You Remember", but when Phil decides to rock, he does rock, and pretty well at that.

I listened to the complete album only now, and I say I like it over all the present chart-toppers! Where is such melody, such rhythm, such emotion these days...

| It's OK
I really like some of the songs on this album. "Heat On The Street," "Hang In Long Enough," and "Father To Son" are probably my favorite ones on this album. I recommend it, even if it's not as good as "Hits" from 1998.

Being a Genesis/Phil Collins fan for
many years (got all available albums),
this one is my personal favourite.
Those 12 tracks reveal not only his
tremendous capabilities as a musician,
but moreover, as a lyric/texter, who knows what he´s talking about, as in "father to son","find a way to my heart" or "something happened on the way to heaven". I love this album.
