BUY THIS CD !!!!!
All I can say is BUY THIS CD !! It's like listening to a new recording !! Rhino's remaster blows away any other versions of the album that have previously come out on CD. Great sound -- I can hear bits and pieces of vocals and instruments that I have never heard before -- and it's cool that the fade-out on each track is longer than on previous releases. Peter Cetera and Bill Champlin's lead vocals have never sounded better !! Great stuff ! Hey Chicago fans - GET OUT AND BUY THIS NOW !!

One of the Best Albums of the 80's
It is rare to label an album five stars, but this one fits the bill. While Chicago 17 was seen as very commercial, it features a variety of sounds that cater to all musical tastes. "Stay the Night" opens up the CD with the drum beat, and Peter Cetera's demanding vocals as he sings to a woman, "I don't want you to misunderstand me. ." "We Can't Stop the Hurting" deals with poverty and social problems while "Hard Habit to Break" is the classic power ballad. "Please Don't Go" is also enjoyable as is the haunting ballad, "Remember the Feeling" which recalls some type of loss. "Along Comes A Woman" is a nice song of its mix of guitars, brass and electric drumming. Who could forget the video where Cetera is saving a woman in the Casablanca-type scene? "Only You" has an impressive bass-chord to it while "You're the Inspiration" was another good ballad. "Prima Donna" was good for its strong guitar sound countering Cetera's vocals and "Once in a Lifetime" struck me with its percussion and synthesizers as the final song of the Cetera era as he later embarked on his solo career. If you like power ballads, or brass sounds of Chicago or like Peter Cetera's range, this CD is a must for a CD collection.

The 80's best album
This is perhaps Chicago's finest album, and thats saying alot. You wont hear a classier sounding, more professionaly played album from the 80's.

Perfect marriage of Chicago and David Foster
Wow, what can you say about this perfect marriage of Chicago and David Foster. The songwriting, vocal arrangements, and performances all contribute to the best Chicago recordings of all time. My favorite song is Hard Habit to Break, which highlights a beautiful duet with Peter Cetera and Bill Champlin, coupled with a brilliant arrangement by David Foster. Without one weak song on the album, Chicago 17 goes down as a commercial and artistic triumph. Sadly, it was also Peter Cetera's last album with the band, but I hear that maybe soon the magic could quite possibly be rekindled... one could only hope.

Best Chicago Album ever
Chicago follows up its success from Chicago 16 to a better one in Chicago 17. All the tracks are great with the best ones being Along Comes A Woman, Stay The Night,You're The Inspiration,Hard Habit To Break,Remember The Feeling and Once In A Lifetime. Chicago was at its peak and at its best in the 80's.
