Pictures at an Exhibition album for sale Product Description

Pictures at an Exhibition album for sale by Emerson, Lake, And Palmer was released May 29, 2012 on the JVC Japan label. Emerson, Lake & Palmer perform Mussorgsky's "Pictures At An Exhibition" Much was made of early prog-rock's fusion of rock with classical music, but ELP was one of the only bands to take that task seriously, and never more so than on PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION. The well-known Mussorgsky piece is a staple of the classical music diet, and a prime example of "program music," where related sections of a piece combine to tell a story. Pictures at an Exhibition CD music contains a single disc.   ...See Full Description

for those who like Rock
better than the studio recordings, able to feel the energy the musicians give off, good sound reproduction also.

A musical experience
Pictures at an Exhibition songs One of the better live albums ever recorded. This is one concert I wish I could have seen. Take your CD player outside on a warm starry night, lean back in a lawnschair, and get lost in Keith Emerson's creative keyboard arrangements of Musorsky's classic. ELP made this classical composition a classic of their own.

FIVE STARS!
Pictures at an Exhibition album for sale This is probably the best LIVE album by a Brit classic prog-rock group ever, if not THE best live rock recording. If you are an ELP fan and haven't heard this one, you've got to get a copy.

Masterpiece
Pictures at an Exhibition CD music A flawless performance. Kieth Emerson's adaptation of the great Russian composer is caught here live, during the early days of the band. Although this recording is not considered to be one of ELP's essentials it is still an important mark in the bands career. The raw energy of a young group can be heard here. Carl Palmer shows his talents as well, and Greg Lake plays some nice acoustic work. I believe this is one of the first recordings to capture the Moog synth being played live. It is still , after listening to it for 30 years, one of my favourites of all time.

Classical music meets prog-rock pomp.
Pictures at an Exhibition buy CD music If someone said that S-Club 7 were going to record a version of Beethoven's 5th symphony, l don't think they would have much success or anyone would be in the slightest bit interested. However this is the sort of thing that ELP tried to pull off on this here album. Yes l know that it was the 70's when they did it and that's the sort of thing that people did then... and that prog rock is very heavily influenced by classical music... and that Keith Emerson is never completely happy unless he's lifting some classical material to add his distinctive brand of Hammomd organ and Moog synth madness to... but the point remains that doing cover versions of stuff that was written for orchestras is always going to be hard work to listen to, and this CD is no exception.
