Plug It In! Turn It Up! Electric Blues - The Definitive Collection, Pt. 4: 1970-2005 album for sale Product Description
Plug It In! Turn It Up! Electric Blues - The Definitive Collection, Pt. 4: 1970-2005 album for sale was released Jun 15, 2012 on the Bear Family label. In some ways, the fourth installment of Bear Family's four-volume Plug It In! Turn It Up! Electric Blues - The Definitive Collection is the most important -- not because this was the most innovative period for electric blues but rather the years of 1970-2005 are generally considered to be when the genre was rather dormant. Certain acts had hits now and then, but the blues weren't ruling the R&B charts and rock & roll starts to shed its blues influence during the '70s, so its presence doesn't seem as immediate. Plug It In! Turn It Up! Electric Blues - The Definitive Collection, Pt. 4: 1970-2005 CD music is a 3-disc set with 65 songs. ...See Full Description

Count Basie Complete Atomic Basie CD (1994)
Plug It In! Turn It Up! Electric Blues - The Definitive Collection, Pt. 4: 1970-2005 buy CD music This 1957 release features Neal Hefti's arrangements and the ever-exciting sound of what became known as the Second Testament Basie Band (the first having featured Lester Young, Herschel Evans, Dicky Wells et al). The album opens with a fiery version of "The Kid from Red Bank"; other highlights include "Whirly-Bird" and "Teddy the Toad." As usual, Count Basie's stride-inflected piano style and the brass section's sudden, sharp stabs help define the band's sound.
The COMPLETE ATOMIC BASIE isn't just about screaming high notes and blistering scale flourishes though; subtlety and dynamic variety characterize several charts. We hear this best in the reeds' lilting swing on "Midnite Blue," and in the quiet, mellow groove of "Li'l Darlin'"; the sparseness of the latter's arrangement highlights the often-neglected guitarist Freddie Green's inimitable strumming. One of Basie's finest albums, THE COMPLETE ATOMIC BASIE is a swinging gem.
Recorded at Capitol Studios, New York, New York between October 21 & 22, 1957. Includes liner by Barry Ulanov & Michael Cuscuna.
Personnel: Count Basie (piano); Joe Williams (vocals); Freddie Green (guitar); Joe Newman (trumpet); Henry Coker, Al Grey, Benny Powell (trombone); Sonny Payne (drums).

Lojo Russo Stoic Abandon CD (2006)
Plug It In! Turn It Up! Electric Blues - The Definitive Collection, Pt. 4: 1970-2005 songs When conflict and tension exist between two forces it's necessary to find a poet.
A person who gives meaning and voice to suffering is one who restores dignity to those on the frontline.
Travis Reitsma through his album Outside the Factory Gates has accomplished just that.
The album is rooted in folk, not only through its style but through its message, even featuring the song Union Burial Ground by Woody Guthrie.
To have a local musician focus on a significant issue and not their ex is refreshing.
In the song Willistead Park Reitsma writes, "Newspaper man with a pen in his hand, cries 'wolf' in the notes he writes down/In the name of the mayor and all the naysayers render all of their hands tightly bound."
The album is finely crafted with the assistance of Johnny West. The first song, Factory Gates, and the last song, Neodepression, almost fall apart at times but find a way to persevere, nicely framing the album.
While all the songs have an acoustic guitar foundation, West's influence is evident with the diverse range of instruments featured on the album such as the Wurlitzer piano, harmonica, banjo, ukelele and glockenspiel, just to name a few.
