incredible film
Devil's Advocate review Probably one of the best films I have ever seen. It takes aspects of religion and law firms and combines them in a most twisted fashion. At the end you are not totally sure whether good or evil wins, which is a nice change of pace!

A haunting look at the life of a lawyer
Yes, lawyers are part evil. How evil they are depends on their willingness to pursue their cases and what actions they take to win, or risk losing their license. Either they try to clarify the definitions of a law, exclude evidence and/or witnesses against their client, or to cement evidence agaist the opponent. This movie shows all these examples. Sometimes they may forget to see which is the lesser of two evils, having your client win, or sparing the feelings of the witnesses. When Lomax finds out how the scales of good and evil are tipped, he corrects the problem. The creative use of the late-edited Ex Nihilio statue plays well in context of the movie. The original version felt too much like a copy of the statue.

RE: devilish fun
I dont know what Director Taylor Hackford did, but this is obviously Keanu Reeves best performance. The usual cardboard cut-out is replaced, with real, believeable raw energy. (i.e. - The scene where his wife dies). Pacino & the great Theron are excellent. But, for me, this was Keanu's film. I know other reviewers disagree, so if you havent seen this film, please do so, and decide for yourself. You wont be bored. Its a helluva film. lol.

this is a brilliant morality play set in a courtroom. al pacino s greatest moment to be sure.
