Long live the Doctor! Remember Tom Baker as the best Doctor of the past? He's met his match in Christopher Ecclestone. Billie Piper is probably the most capable (and cutest) companion ever. (A small hint: in season two she meets Sarah Jane Smith!) This is a definate buy for old fans of the Doctor and those just now making his acquaintance. As a science fiction attempt, it seems to be trying too hard to retain the cheesy techno-babble of the old shows. As a result it comes off looking unsophisticated. As a drama, there's really only two main characters to work with, but neither one of them has the inner-conflict that makes shows like The Sopranos and Battlestar Galactica such riveting TV. One lat note: I watched this with some Japanese friends whose English levels varied, but all of them right away commented on the poor production quality and cheap sets. Don't waste your money.
