3 Pears album Product Description
3 Pears, Dwight Yoakam's first studio album of original material since 2005's Blame the Vain, and his first release since returning to Warner Bros. Records after a trio of releases from New West Records, features a pair of Beck productions, "A Heart Like Mine" and "Missing Heart," recorded at Beck's home studio in California, along with nine other Yoakam compositions that exhibit a stripped-down, sparse, emotional, and intimate sound. Illustrator: Wayne Brezinka. Photographer: Emily J. Joyce. Personnel: Steve Moore (guitar). Recording information: Studio 1, East West Studios; Studio 1, Sunset Sound Studios; Studio A, Paramount Studios; Studio D, Henson Recording Studios; The Library. Paste (magazine) - "Room sounds have an intense presence, giving saloon torchiness an inside-out intensity that makes Yoakam's Sinatra-style vocal on 'Never Alright' a powerful article of haunted ache."

| Dwight & The Kid real like take hold of my hand dwight and kid rock did a good job By marya (prince edwardisland p.ei) |
| 3 Pears. Lovely. Lovely. Lovely. In ancient mythology, those who venture too close to perfection suffer the wrath of the gods. So, on first listening to this cd, I was worried. Dwight Yoakam comes as close to a perfect blend of country, rock, 60s pop, and bluegrass music as possible--all with that gorgeous voice. The opening song, "Take Hold of My Hand," gives us the anguish of a classic country song, mixed with undertones of rock, then ends with a whimsical pop chorus. My favorite, "Waterfall," has a gorgeous surrealist mix of bluegrass, country, and pop. This brilliant mix continues through most of the songs, ending with a reprise of "Long Way to Go," placing Mr Yoakam's voice against only a piano--very reminiscent of 70s Elton John. In the past, Mr Yoakam has written beautiful love songs, but they have been veiled with irony or bitterness, which made them feel somewhat distant. The love songs in this cd seem more personal and, therefore, more mature. By chiquita170 (Austin, TX, USA) |
| Dwight does it again! "3 Pears" is a delight! If you don't have it yet, hurry out and get one, you'll be glad you did! Dwight is as AWESOME as ever on this new album. Waterfall is so fun! Heart Like Mine is rockin! There's not a bad track on the album! In my opinion Dwight is one of the greatest entertainers ever! He doesn't get the amount of attention he deserves!
