2nd Law album Product Description
2nd Law album by Muse was released Oct 02, 2012 on the Warner Bros. label. England's masters of maximalist rock expand their sound even further on their sixth album, The 2nd Law. Continuing to draw on electronic influences like synth pop and dubstep, Muse looked to artists like Justice and Skrillex as they sought out new ways to open up their already grandiose symphonic rock sound even further. The album also finds bassist Chris Wolstenholme stepping into the vocal spotlight for the first time on a pair of songs written by him about his personal struggles with alcoholism. Fans worried that the band might be straying away from its bombastic wheelhouse should check out the album's lead single (and official song of the 2012 Summer Olympics), "Survival," an epic and determined song proving that it takes a little more than some electronics to snuff out the influence of Queen. When Muse approached the making of their sixth studio album, they wouldn't stint on the choirs, strings and horn sections. And be reassured: guitar-shredding, piano-thumping, orchestra-arranging, book-chewing, big-thinking Matt Bellamy, as the band's chief songwriter, didn't lower his sights from The Big Picture nor ignore The Precious Details. ...See Full Description

While still steeped in moody Britpop, wall-of-guitar rock, and space-synth soundscapes, BLACK HOLES finds Muse diversifying their already broad palette and creating one of their most ambitious efforts.
The tune "Supermassive Black Hole" is a case in point. A club-ready funk groove underpins the ...

Resistance CD (2009) Top Seller
2nd Law songs With its titanic guitar solos, symphonic suites, and multi-layered melodies, Muse's fifth album operates under the assumption that bigger is better. This is the very definition of a super-sized album, an album that takes its cues from Queen, its lyrics from science fiction novels, and its delivery from rock opera. It's also the first time that Muse has truly sounded like Muse, as few bands since Queen have so readily explored the intersection of bombast and extravagance. THE RESISTANCE is most certainly extravagant -- ...
