Atlanta Twelve String buy CD music Customer Reviews
Blind Willie McTell was a troubador, a street singer, a recounter of stories that have passed into history. "Kill it Kid" and "Razor Ball" are filled with images and arcane phrases of an era long since forgotten, driven on by McTells' bell-like, multi-textured 12-string, alternately dense and delicate. His voice strains, hollers and testifies by turn through cuts like "Dying Crapshooters Blues" and "Broke Down Engine", his version of "Motherless Children" breathless with loss. An essential collection, recorded nearly sixty years ago and astonishly preserved.
