Point review Product Description
Directed by Academy Award-winner Fred Wolf, "The Point" tells the story of Oblio, a round-headed boy living in the land of "Point," where everything and everybody has one. Oblio, along with his trusty dog, Arrow, is banished to the Pointless Forest. The tale is narrated by Ringo Starr and includes songs written and sung by Grammy Award-winner Harry Nilsson. The definitive collector's edition.
The animated tale about the round-headed child, Oblio, born into a world where everything and everyone has a point, and his faithful dog Arrow, narrated by Ringo Starr and featuring the Harry Nilsson song "Me and My Arrow."
Singer/songwriter Harry Nilsson wrote and produced this touching animated tale in 1971, and contributed some classic songs for the soundtrack. The soft Liverpudlian lilt of ex-Beatle Ringo Starr narrates the tale, telling the story of Oblio: A sad outcast from the village of "Point." largely eschewed by the local villagers due to his round head. ...See Full Description

| Alan, not Ringo! I was so excited to get this movie on DVD, but when I realized that this version had Ringo Starr instead of Alan Thicke as the dad / storyteller, I was really disappointed... I think Alan did a much better job! I guess there have been four different narrators for different versions, Ringo for the home video release, Dustin Hoffman for the first telecast, Alan Barzman the second time around, and Alan Thicke the third time. I love Harry's music, and I think everyone should still see this movie, but try to snag the Alan Thicke version if you can; just my 2 cents. | I got The Point The Point is a classic Harry Nillson cartoon feature, and I have been searching for a DVD copy for a couple of years — the main problem was that it had to play in Region 4 (Australia). Video Universe had the only version that I could play, and it is fantastic! Great music, great storyline and a great moral lesson (not too heavily implied). One of my Top 10 DVDs. | Fantastic story, great tunes for kids and us I really enjoyed watching this along with my kids. Oblio is such a great example, since despite being ostracized, he keeps a great positive attitude and open mind. He's not afraid to go it alone and learn along the way, and the music is excellent. Remember this is hand animated and probably on a small budget, but with excellent results. By Melissa (SC,USA) This review is for a different format. |
| Great Family Movie I am a 22 yeard old female and I bought this for my dad for Christmas. We both love this movie and it is great to bond over. My dad bought my sister and I the soundtrack when we were little and we still enjoy it today. By harleybabe (Mount Joy, PA) This review is for a different format. |
| kid and adult friendly To me this is a classic from years ago...made my teens watch it with me. They thought it was great. Teaches a lesson, makes you think and is cute too! The movie also is alot deeper then I realized when I saw it in about 6th grade. By sar8297 (Nebraska) This review is for a different format. |
