| | T-Rock Defcon 1: Lyrical Warfare CD (2003)
$14.89 Defcon 1: Lyrical Warfare was T-Rock's third album in five months. As you might be able to imagine, it's not that the MC had such a wealth of top-shelf tracks ready to be unleashed upon the world in rapid-fire succession. Instead, he had one good album, and he chose to split up the material from that one good album onto three separate albums, with plenty of nondescript fluff added to each of the discs to maximize his profit. Like Myth of Reality and Rock Solid/4:20 before it, Defcon 1 has a handful of memorable moments that maintain his status as an accomplished, if just above average, Southern MC. ~ Andy Kellman

| | Pastor Troy Face Off, PT. 2 CD (2005)
$14.99 The first song on FACE OFF: PART II, "WWW? (Who Want War)," finds Atlanta, Georgia's Pastor Troy in a ferocious rage, challenging all comers; however, 15 tracks later, he closes the record with the swift-moving, but tenderly inspirational, "Keep on Movin'." This stark contrast is the norm for Pastor Troy. Throughout this album and his previous records, this reverend of crunk has made a tradition out of combining a rich, sincere spirituality with a hardcore urban vibe.
FACE OFF: PART II is Pastor Troy's sequel to his successful 2001 record, and is supremely faithful in its life-in-the-now mentality, in both its lyrics and the accompanying beats. He keeps up a relentless pace, roaring "I'm coming at ya" on "Murder Man," and spinning threats over a Halloween beat on "Get Dat Money Part II." Troy wraps his dirty Southern drawl around an inspired metal mix on "Acid Rain," and wistfully reflects on the pristine ballad backdrop of "Respect Game." FACE OFF: PART II reveals just a little more of the conflicted figure that is Pastor Troy.
Personnel: Pastor Troy (rap vocals); Pimpin' Ken, Little Pere (rap vocals).

| | Very Best Of Beenie Man: Gold CD (2002)
Check Availability Liner Note Author: Jade Fialho.
The Very Best of Beenie Man: Gold provides an extensive look at the career of Beenie Man, one of dancehall's most notorious DJ's. This 20-track survey might be a bit extensive for most casual listeners; but not only is it a road map into the course of dancehall history, it's practically a blueprint. All of the well-known slabs and hits are included, as well as a few that didn't necessarily translate into hits, but were equally important benchmarks in Beenie Man's insanely prolific career. While it's not as in depth as 2000's double-disc set, it's the perfect place for the casual listener to get started. ~ Rob Theakston
