| | That 70'S Show Presents That 70'S Album: Rockin' Soundtrack CD
Includes liner notes by Arthur Levy. That '70s Show Presents That '70s Album: Rockin' is based on the Fox sitcom That '70s Show -- a somewhat bawdy but harmless comedy about teens in the Me Decade -- and the CD mimics the show's sentiment and attitude quite accurately, but with less schmaltz than the Jammin' album. The songs are mostly hard rock hits and include Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Saturday Night Special," Montrose's "Rock Candy," the Kinks' "Celluloid Heroes," Ram Jam's "Black Betty," Argent's "Hold Your Head Up," and James Gang's "Funk #49." For some reason, Big Star's "September Gurls" made the CD, but "In the Streets," the Big Star song upon which the TV's theme show is based, was remade unnecessarily by Cheap Trick. Even worse, Cheap Trick also revamped "I Want You to Want Me" into a vapid energy-sucker. Despite some great rock songs, Rockin' is really just for rabid fans of the TV show. ~ Gina Boldman

$13.79 Audio Remixer: T.T. Oksala. Arranger: The 69 Eyes. The Finnish goth-metal band 69 Eyes performs many of the songs that have brought them international fame at the legendary Hollywood nightspot the Whisky A Go Go. Included in this darkly atmospheric yet rocking set are the high-octane "Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams," the sepulchral, Billy Idol-like "Betty Blue," and the band's decidedly contemporary take on the folk-ballad "Brandon Lee."
