A warm, woolly blend of contemporary arrangements with traditional folk melodies. There is an undeniable Fairport Convention/Steeleye Span influence to be found, though other elements also make their way into the mix -- "Texas" not only features a buzzing synthesizer, but also incorporates some very jazzy fretless bass work that wouldn't be out of place on a Rippingtons set. Overall, a quite engaging and highly listenable set, though unlikely to be sufficiently moody and serious to completely satisfy those who consider themselves purists. After releasing a short EP of electronic and acoustic influenced songs called the “Remember the Days EP”, His Hideous Heart began to reshape into a full band with a fuller sound. Adding to Mike’s guitar and songwriting, Brian Bohan joined on bass, Ben Austin on cello, Jeff Mather on Drums, Bridget Davis with vocals and percussion and Mustafa Ascha on a second guitar. While playing these songs however, the band began noticing a vast change in the natural style and dynamics. After several shows and the beginning of a new era of song writing, Aaron Popelka replaced ...
