Personnel: Greg Lake (vocals, guitar, bass); Keith Emerson (keyboards); Cozy Powell (drums, percussion). Recorded at Maison Rouge, London, England and Fleetwood Mobile Studios, Sussex, England between 1985 and 1986. Adapters: Cozy Powell; Emerson, Lake & Powell; Greg Lake; Keith Emerson. Personnel: Greg Lake (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Keith Emerson (keyboards); Cozy Powell (drums, percussion). Audio Mixer: Tony Taverner. Recording information: Fleetwood Mobile, London, England (1985-1986); Maison Rouge (1985-1986); Sussex, England (1985-1986). A rather courageous offshoot/reunion effort, considering the period in which it was done. There's more energy and purpose here than there was on any post-Works ELP album, and that makes it worthwhile for interested fans, though it wasn't going to make any new converts, either. One oddity is that Emerson, Lake & Powell cover Mars, The Bringer of War from Holst's The Planets, a piece that King Crimson first introduced as a rock adaptation when Lake was a member on tour back in 1969. [This CD version features two bonus tracks, Goffin & King's "The Loco-Motion" along with "Vacant Possession," the latter track being an outtake from the original recording session.] ~ Bruce Eder Emerson, Lake & Powell Music | List Price | $9.95 (You save $3.46) | | Category | Rock Albums, Rock/Pop CDs | | Label | Polydor | | Orig Year | 1985 | | All Time Sales Rank | 6216  | | CD Universe Part number | 1056627 | | Catalog number | 829297 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Oct 25, 1990 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Producer | Tony Taverner; Greg Lake | | Engineer | Tony Toverner | | Recording Time | 43 minutes | | Personnel | Greg Lake - vocals, guitar, bass Keith Emerson - keyboards ;

ELP a solid choice to counter 80's pop. Emerson, Lake, and Powell sound like combination of the complex intermingling of their 70's music and the BIG syntho-sound of the 80's. This straighforward work will not grab you by the lapels and shake you, but will ease you into a groove. As usual, their treatment of classical music is both faithful and innovative (Mars). "Touch and Go" is an inspiring, can I say 'American' shout out. My favorite, "Step aside" is a cool, sly, jazz-blues tune reminiscent of their work in the 70's.
Overall, I enjoy the album. It has the same sort of feel as Asia and their work, but a bit more mellow in places. Submitted by a reviewer (Arentdsville, PA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Best Ever! I've been searching for this album for a long time. Many places I checked that special order music told me it was no longer available. Thanks CD Universe! Submitted by a reviewer (Wooster, OH, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

DESERT ISLAND ALBUM !!! awesome ELP album with Cozy Powell more powerful he ever was ! "the miracle" is without doubt one of ELP best five songs. Greg Lake has always said it was a really great LP and one of he's the proudest, a shame the tour was difficult with poor ticket sales, and a double shame they never released a second ELPowell album! thanks for the band, they covered mars the bringer of war, that introduced me to the wonderful Holts planets ! A DESERT ISLAND ALBUM, buy or die ! Submitted by pfr (FRANCE) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Emerson, Lake & Powell
$28.05 Live Recording
The Beatles: Paul McCartney (bass instrument); John Lennon, Ringo Starr, George Harrison. Personnel: Paul McCartney (vocals, guitar, piano); John Lennon, George Harrison (vocals, guitar); Ringo Starr (vocals, drums). Additional personnel: Billy Preston (organ). Recording information: EMI Abbey Road Studios, London, England. Picking up where 1962-1966 left off, the double-album compilation 1967-1970, commonly called The Blue Album, covers the Beatles' later records, from Sgt. Pepper's through Let It Be. Like The Red Album, The Blue Album was released in the wake of a pair of widely advertised quadruple-LP bootlegs, Alpha Omega, Vols. 1-2: The Story of the Beatles, which had appeared early in 1973. And like its companion volume, this set contains a mixture of hits, including singles like "Lady Madonna," "Hey Jude," and "Revolution" -- which had originally appeared only as 45s -- plus important album tracks like "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," "A Day in the Life," "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," and "Come Together," as well as orphaned tracks such as the single versions of "Let It Be" and "Get Back," which had never been on any LP before. The first two sides of the original double-LP edition carry listeners through the highlights of the psychedelic era, starting with "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane" and up through "Magical Mystery Tour," before returning to rock & roll territory on "Lady Madonna," "Hey Jude," and "Revolution." The second LP skims three of the more popular tracks off of the sprawling ...
