DJUPA ANDETAG is the solo studio release in over ten years from ex-Abba singer Frida. The album features 10 Swedish language tracks including "Lugna Vatten" and "Ogonen." Frida returned to her roots for this sublimely beautiful album, produced and written or co-written by Anders Glenmark (and it closes with a song co-written by the singer). More than two decades after she emerged as an international star, she proves that less is more, singing more quietly than on either Something's Going On or Shine, in more restrained, relatively low-wattage settings. Her work here is more expressive and personal than any of her singing on those earlier records, and also more mature -- the whole record is far removed from ABBA (as is the artist, a quarter century later). It's no surprise that the record hit number one in Sweden, and it shouldn't be ruled out by her English-speaking fans; even if you don't comprehend a word, you'll be glad to hear -- and own -- Djupa Andetag. ~ Bruce Eder

| Djupa Andetag Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) big this is great music and although swedish critics consider this album as a pop album ,it's not !
this is a rock album with a master piece 'Aven En Blomma' and some others big hits like 'alska mej altid' and 'kvinnor some springer'
this is a mature reflection on the life of a woman (coping, aging,fighting..)
frida at the top and some delightfull backing vocals of the glenmark twins
anders is providing great vocals (like on 'one night in bangkok' from chess)
his vocals are superb, the string arrangements somptuous! Submitted by gunfooter (algiers) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great come back album There are many things that I like about this CD. Frida's voice is in top form. She has Marie Fredriksson of Roxette singing with her on one of the tracks. The CD has some enhancements for the computer. These are entirely in Swedish. The only thing that I did not care about was Anders Glenmark's back up vocals. This surprised me because a solo artist, and as part of Gemeni (with his sister) he has great talent. As with the previous review, I think he tried too hard to keep up with Frida. He did produce an excellent release. The interesting part is that he started out as one of the backup singers for ABBA on their tours. One of the greatest albums... ...EVER. This is a marvelous solo effort from Frida, and the "solo" part should be emphasized. It isn't ABBA, and it should not be considered as such. Most importantly, this album is entirely in Swedish. Now, for the songs. This is a beautiful album, with some great Frida vocals. Bear with me, I'm going to use track numbers because I can't possibly spell in Swedish. Track 1 is divine--an incredible song with still more incredible vocals. Track 2 shouldn't be where it is on the CD, and it would be better without that darned guy who insists on drowning Frida out with his "Look at me, Ma, I'm singing" voice. Track 3 ("Aven en Blomma", I know that one) is even better than Track 1, with gorgeous music, lovely vocals, and an impressive video (which you can see on the enhanced CD). The rest of the songs are quite good, with my favorite being (I hope this is right) "Vem Kommer Sara Vem Ikvall." That's as close as I can get. Anyway, there are some nice special features, all in Swedish. Fortunately, there are several sites on the internet with translations. This is a great album, and I highly recommend it. The Band: Robbie Robertson (vocals, guitar); Rick Danko (vocals, fiddle, bass instrument); Richard Manuel (vocals, piano, drums); Levon Helm (vocals, drums); Garth Hudson (accordion, horns, keyboards). Additional personnel: Van Morrison (vocals); Allen Toussaint. Audio Mixers: Dave Pearlman; Andrew Sandoval. Liner Note Author: Rob Bowman. In comparison to its predecessors, Cahoots, the Band's fourth album, may be characterized as an essentially minor effort that nevertheless contains a few small pleasures. These pleasures begin with the leadoff track, "Life Is a Carnival," a song that continues the theme of Stage Fright by emphasizing the false nature of show business and its impact on reality. The song features a lively Dixieland horn chart courtesy of Allen Toussaint. "When I Paint My Masterpiece," a Bob Dylan song making its recorded debut here as the second selection, is another welcome track, buoyed by mandolin and accordion in a charming arrangement appropriate to its tale of an odd trip to Europe. "4% Pantomime" is a duet between the Band's Richard Manuel and Van Morrison that is entertaining to hear, even if the song itself is slight. Unfortunately, that just about completes the list of the album's attractions. Annotator Rob Bowman claims that the overriding theme of the songs is "extinction and the sadness that accompanies the passing of things that once were held to be of great value"; actually, there is no overriding theme to the minor songs written by Robbie Robertson. Several of the songs' lyrics come across as half-baked film scenarios, but they fail to be evocative, and they are paired to music lacking in structure. The failure is solely in the writing; the Band sounds as good as ever playing the songs, with singers Manuel, Levon Helm, and Rick Danko all performing effectively and primary ...

The Bevis Frond: Nick Saloman (vocals, various instruments, guitar); Barry Dransfield (violin); Martin Crowley (drums). If you were to take any three albums by the Bevis Frond and reshuffle the tracks, you could easily come up with two albums of brilliant material and one album that shouldn't be released. One of those discs would be tough, hard-rocking, and poetic, the other wistfully bleak electric folk. The third release, the one that would never see the light of day, would be derivative psychedelia that shows promise but never quite delivers. The good news is that London Stone would have a lot of selections on the first two albums and only one or two tracks for the third. Among the hard-rocking highlights are the organ-driven "Still Trying" and the incredible "Coming Round," which ranks with the best up-tempo tracks Nick Saloman has ever laid down. It's hard to imagine that both parts of that sinuous, muscular guitar duel were played by the same guy, who is also tossing in the ...

$16.45 Mark Maland was born in Moscow, ID and raised all over North America. Along with his stay-at-home mother, auto mechanic stepfather, and two younger sisters, Mark lived in Austin, TX, Ocala, FL, San Diego, CA, Spokane, WA, and his native Juliaetta, ID at one time or another. His musical roots came originally from his step fathers obsession with the working class country sounds and lyrics of Merle Haggard, David Alan Coe, George Strait, George Jones, and \"the king\" Hank Williams. Mark would later branch out on his own trek, soaking up the blues sounds of Muddy Waters, Lightin’ Hopkins, Albert King, B.B. King, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Mark also began dabbling in harmonica, following in the footsteps of Sonny Boy Williamson and the ...
