The most frustrating thing about WWIII is that it's so darn inconsistent. Kicking off with the Atari Teenage Riot-sounding and George Bush Jr.-sampling title track, WWIII sounds like it's going to be an inspired affair. The Bush-led Iraqi war has given KMFDM plenty of fuel for their disdain toward America circa 2003, so listeners with differing views will find little to like about the lyrics. On the fierce "Jihad," the band paints the human race as "a dying species" that is "poor sick dumb numb feeding on feces." Lucia Cifarelli's vocal and songwriting contributions are excellent (the forgettable tracks don't feature her writing), and her near-pop "From Here on Out" ends up as the highlight of the album. The nihilism keeps up until the silly "Intro" roll-calls the band à la the B-52's' "Song for a Future Generation," and of course, closes the album. It's a cute little ditty, but it's almost dumb enough to wipe away any chance of taking the rest of the album seriously. There's about five or six songs' worth of truly great KMFDM with the just-right combination of churning guitars, symphonic keyboards, and stern vocals lesser bands imitate. Perhaps in a race to be topical, WWIII too often sounds rushed and unfinished, with material that KMFDM's followers would pass on. ~ David Jeffries

5 stars Good Stuff
I really enjoy this cd, I mean its not there old stuff but alot of people should understand, if a great band keeps playing the same music, it gets old, and i also do think its the truth on the message, great time to listen to with all this political crap going on, and good if you dislike Bush like myself.

4 stars As strong as ever....
KMFDM is still going strong on this one. The band lineup has pretty much stayed the same for the last couple of albums, and it helps make 'WWIII' more consistent start to finish. Do they still rock?? Yes. Are they still angry?? Yes, in fact they're getting specific in their targets now. Almost every tracks's a keeper on this one, and the last song 'Outro' expands upon a fine tradition that all of us longtime fans will pick up on. Great guitar work as always, Bill Rieflin reappears with drums on some songs, and Lucia's singing is well integrated now to give the tunes some estrogen. If you've been a fan all along, get it. If you're just starting out, start with something older and work your way into this one to be on the safe side.

4 stars I still miss En Esch.
I picked this one up in Feb '04 in Germany and wasn't sure what to expect. Yes, the anti-war thing gets old, but I still loved a good portion of the tracks. WWIII grabbed me by the short and curlys and Blackball definately felt like good old KMFDM. It's been a while since I've heard an entirely German track from them. Overall, a must have for long-time, Die-hard fans.

Off the Wall was a massive success, spawning four Top Ten hits (two of them number ones), but nothing could have prepared Michael Jackson for Thriller. Nobody could have prepared anybody for the success of Thriller, since the magnitude of its success was simply unimaginable -- an album that sold 40 million copies in its initial chart run, with seven of its nine tracks reaching the Top Ten (for the record, the terrific "Baby Be Mine" and the pretty good ballad ...

Personnel: Lindsey Buckingham (vocals, various instruments); John McVie (bass guitar); Mick Fleetwood (percussion).
Despite being the principal songwriter and sound architect for Fleetwood Mac, one of the biggest selling pop/rock bands in music history, Lindsey Buckingham's standing as "pop genius" has always been a topic of debate amongst rock musos. UNDER THE SKIN (2006), Buckingham's first solo album in nearly 15 years, contains all of the hallmarks of the artist's singular approach and presents a solid illustration of his musical brilliance. A studio scientist if there ever was one, Buckingham surrounds his acoustic-based songs (many of which hint at the aforementioned discussion over his legacy) with the same pristine, near-compulsively textured production that made "Second Hand News" and "Monday Morning" such revelations. And while UNDER THE SKIN is considerably more subtle and impressionistic than Fleetwood Mac's smashes, it doesn't lack for the band's sonic majesty. This album isn't going to be Buckingham's personal RUMORS, but it will certainly remind listeners why that album specifically and his talent in general need not be debated.
Lindsey Buckingham has released only four albums as a solo artist in 25 years. While he remains active as a producer and session musician, this is his first offering in 14 years. Those who saw Cameron Crowe's film Elisabethtown got a sneak peak: Buckingham's "Shut Us Down" was featured in the film. Under the Skin is perhaps the most nakedly visible and tender recording he's ever dropped. He wrote much of the set while on tour with Fleetwood Mac in 2003. While it's true his albums are deceptively simple in terms of their production values, there are always many layers whispering beneath the surface. This ...
