| | Ray Parker, Jr Ghostbusters CD Ray Parker, Jr Discography of CDs
Featuring these top selling hits, 'Ghostbusters', 'A Woman Needs Love (Just Like You Do)', & 'The Other Woman'. Collectables. 2004.
Ray Parker, Jr.'s former bandmates in Raydio probably wouldn't want to be associated with the leader's breakout novelty solo hit, "Ghostbusters," but life can be pretty unfair. While this compilation is three-tenths solo Parker (the other two tracks coming from his first purely solo album, The Other Woman), the remainder is eaten up by cuts off the four Raydio albums. Out of the several Parker/Raydio compilations, this is one of the worst, because it fails to include "Jack and Jill," "You Can't Change That," and plenty of other deserving numbers. [Note: this has the same exact track listing as BMG Special Products' Ghostbusters: The Encore Collection, released in 2004, though it does have a different form of horrible artwork.] ~ Andy Kellman

Ghostbusters
$9.25 Import pressing of their 1977 album that features the same 7 tracks as their out of print US version. EMI.
Although Autobahn was a left-field masterpiece, Trans-Europe Express is often cited as perhaps the archetypal (and most accessible) Kraftwerk album. Melodic themes are repeated often and occasionally interwoven over deliberate, chugging beats, sometimes with manipulated vocals; the effect is mechanical yet hypnotic. Thematically, the record feels like parts of two different concept ...

Boneroo Horns: Bill Purse, Stan Webb, Neil Bonsati, Peter Graves, Whit Sideneer, Kenny Faulk. Producers: The Bee Gees, Arif Mardin, Karl Richardson, Albhy Galuten. In its original form, this double-LP compilation was a very generous repackaging of four years' worth of hits and notable album tracks, plus the Andy Gibb-authored "(Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away." It was a perfect distillation of the sound that had put the Bee Gees on top of the pop music world from 1975 ...

Although it's missing some of her classic performances, the double-disc set Gospels, Spirituals & Hymns is nonetheless an excellent introduction to Mahalia Jackson, arguably the greatest gospel singer of all time. The box set features 36 performances she recorded for Columbia between 1954 and 1969, offering a comprehensive, but by no means exhaustive, introduction to Jackson and her most popular work. ~ Leo Stanley Mahalia Jackson was known as the "Gospel Queen" for over a half a century, until her death in 1972. She is still regarded as the greatest gospel singer of all time. On the 2-disc box set GOSPELS, SPIRITUALS & HYMNS, the listener is treated to Mahalia's best work from the '50s and '60s; a sweeping education in gospel, jazz and blues when Sister Mahalia testifies. Inspiration is the cornerstone of this passionate collection. The 36 songs range from the rock-the-pulpit, foot-stomping ...
| | Egyptian Lover On The Nile CD (2009)
Ghostbusters
$13.09 classic hip hop from 1984 feat. the songs "What Is A DJ If He Can't Scratch", "Computer Love" & "And My Beat Goes Boom"
Personnel: The Egyptian Lover (vocals, synthesizer). Photographer: Phil Bedel. Arranger: The Egyptian Lover. Before Ice-T, N.W.A., and the late Eazy-E made Los Angeles famous (or infamous) for gangsta rap in the late '80s, the city's rap community was best known for a high-tech, futuristic approach that owed a lot to Afrika Bambaataa's 1982 classic, "Planet Rock." In the early to mid-'80s, L.A.-based electro-hoppers like the Egyptian Lover, the World Class Wreckin' Cru (the group that Dr. Dre belonged to before N.W.A.), the Arabian Prince, and Uncle Jam's Army didn't get much respect from East Coast hip-hoppers, who insisted that their music wasn't gritty enough. But those artists did enjoy a cult following in Southern California. Besides, the Egyptian Lover never claimed to be a ...
