Referencing the alleged alien UFO crash near Roswell, NM, Atomship's The Crash of '47 is pretty unique compared to most of its contemporary hard rock peers. Most of that is due to the vocal approach of Joey Culver, who has a clear, powerful voice that at times sounds like an amalgam of Ozzy Osbourne, José Feliciano, and Brandon Boyd. Speaking of the latter, the alluring, acoustic "Withered" is a dead ringer for Incubus, but Atomship's vibrant riffs and thumping rhythms are most often at work, propelling the forceful, Creed-like roll of "Day of Daze" and the melodic, System of a Down-derived crunch of "Aliens." The group is most distinct on the intricate "Mothra," where an intricate, percussive, Rush-like arrangement makes Atomship sound like today's answer to prog rock. This CD has a lot to offer to the alternative rock fan. Very different voice and sound with these guys but songs like Agent Orange and Aliens really stick out to me. Give this cd a try.

This is an absolutely fantastic album held together by the incredible Chad Kent on drums. If you're a drummer buy this and study it. If you're not get it anyway!

Great Album
this is a definate must for rock fans, this album although its not mainstream music, definatley has some talent in it. i am very impressed by their work and cant wait for future albums. Purchase well made!

Chad Kent is awesome on the drums. . . these guys used 2 be watership down,this is the last one from these guys they've changed name and personel again.

Great album
This is one great progressive rock album. The drummer is clearly talented, as well as the vocalist... with haunting sung vocals (Dragonfly, Withered) to angry shouting (Mothra, Angent Orange), to spoken vocals (Pencil Fight). The lyrics are complex and abstract. The music ranges from gentle to heavy. In Mothra the middle section is almost death metal-ish! The polymetric beats are awesome
