Far removed from their rap-metal roots, these masked men of extreme metal show no signs of relenting with VOL. 3: (THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES). For this brutal chapter of the Slipknot story, the jagged sound of fierce heaviness and moody melodicism is executed deftly, as Slipknot ducks crossover cliches and nu-metal formula. Esteemed studio guru Rick Rubin captures the group's raw intensity with sonic reverence, a feat not easily achieved with bands of this style. VOL. 3 delivers all the elements that Slipknot fans have come to expect and demand. From solid, catchy choruses ("Duality") to fearsome blasts of noise and percussive gymnastics ("Three Nil," "Welcome"), and borderline balladry ("Vermilion Pt. 2"), unsettling emotions and images are vividly depicted for the listener by this notorious Iowan ensemble.

This CD blew me away. When I heard they were making a third album, I was semi-happy and semi afraid. I was afriad they would turn pop'ish like So many other bands have.
It was the Slipknot that I have grown to love and 100% sic!!!
They do have a few slower songs but dont get the idea they were watered down weak poppy ballads. They were creativly written and performed in a way that actually suprised me.
Other songs were pretty much like old school "knot" material only with wicked solo's. I couldent have been happier with Slipknot's new album! Submitted by distressed_sun (Southwestern Virginia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 2 found this helpful.

Amazing CD This is in my opinion slipknots first cd where they really show how good they are. This is my personal favorite cd. First of all coreys vocals are better than ever. I like how this cd is more creative than their past ones. The marching snare drum part in the blister exist and more shredding guitar solos really improved the cd . Joey's incrediable drum work also added the the cd very much. I really like how they didn't follow the same formula as their first cd's and tried something different. I really like it when a band tries some creative ideas but still keeps true to their sound. Slipknot did this to perfection. Narrow minded metal fans say they sold out becaue they didn't make another heavy cursing cd. This doesn't make sense to me . They improved so much on this cd. Maggot for life. I Died When I Listened To This CD I have been a Slipknot fan for about a year to two years. I first got the self titled Slipknot ablum. I listed to that everysecond of everyday. Now I have this one and it just killed the other ablum, this is the best CD in the world hands down. Every song is better than the one before and after it.
Maggot for life!

Best Album from Slipknot At the subliminal verses,Slipknot have done much more melodic music than before, while keeping the good elements from their past music!...they are using excellently all the band's instruments and Corey sings better than any time, with great screaming/melodic support from his fellow members,Chris and Shawn.
Also, they lyrics are much better than previous albums, you can clearly see that Slipknot left most part of the "i hate everything" theme in their songs and have much more meaningfull lyrics.I really hope they will keep it this way!

$9.89 "Depende" was nominated for the 2000 Latin Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance By a Duo or Group with Vocal.
The title track of Jarabe de Palo's debut album, La Flaca, which won the prestigious Spanish Ondas Award for Best Song and Best New Artist kudos for lead singer and songwriter Pau Donés, was just so darn irresistible, so convincingly authentic, so undeniably sincere in its longing for a skinny girl glimpsed dancing in Havana, that it was hard to find anything bad to say about the group from Barcelona, except maybe that their name was odd. Donés turns out to have been one of those kids who had to keep switching schools because he picked so many fights, and in Spain what one prescribes for such a kid is a "jarabe de palo," the kind of cure that comes down to a good old-fashioned whupping. It's a phrase akin to threats to "fix your wagon." Unwilling to endure any more blows -- and above all, dismissal as a one-hit wonder -- Donés waited ...
