Christopher Lambert, Clancy Brown, Roxanne Hart, Sean Connery - Director: Russell Mulcahy Russell Mulcahy's original saga of immortal Scotsman Connor Macleod, one of a race of immortals who can only be killed when beheaded with a sword. After living in peace for four centuries, he is challenged by an old enemy named Kurgan.
During a fierce sword battle in the 1500s, Connor MacLeod, a simple Scotsman known as a poor fighter, is mortally wounded -- but he does not die. MacLeod learns from the mysterious Ramirez that he is of a race of immortals. These rare knights never age and never reproduce, they can only meet death by the blade of another of their kind. Leaping back and forth through the centuries, MacLeod once again meets the evil Kurgan who nearly killed him 500 years ago. Produced by TESE.
The Collector's Edition laserdisc (Cat. #LV-25895) includes the director's cut of the film, which is actually the 6-minute longer version released outside the U.S. in 1986. Also included are a running film commentary, by the producers and director Russell Mulcahy, and a CAV supplement containing press releases, background profiles, text and pictures from lost scenes, trailers, and more.
Although "Highlander" made only $5 million at the U.S. box office, the film grossed almost $70 million overseas. It went on to spawn two sequels, an animated children's television series, a live-action television series on the USA cable network, a series of books, a "Highlander" Web site, a CD-ROM game and a huge merchandising catalogue. Highlander Quotes/Excerpts: "There can be only one!" -- Connor MacLeod (CHRISTOPHER LAMBERT). Highlander Reviews: "...Entertaining....The picture is beautifully photographed....Outstanding special effects..."
-- Brit., Variety "...[This] entertaining fantasy flits between centuries of film-making styles with abandon..."

ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES EVER FROM THE 80'S KUDOS TO CHRISTOPHER LAMBERT, SEAN CONNERY AND CLANCY BROWN WHO WERE BRILLIANT IN THIS MOVIE. JUST GREAT ACTING BY A GREAT CAST. THIS MOVIE CAME OUT OF NOWHERE IN 1986 AND WAS A CULT HIT JUGGERNAUT JUST LIKE "EQUILBRIUM" DID IN 2002. IN MY OPINION "HIGHLANDER" WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST SCI- FI/FANTASY MOVIES EVER MADE. IT SIMPLY BELONGS IN EVERY MOVIE COLLECTION EVERYWHERE. "THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE"! Submitted by MICHAELCBAREFOOT (FOUR OAKS, N.C.,U.S.A.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful. There can be only one!!!! One of my favorite movies of all time. There are immortals among us. Very original. The cinematography, the story and the soundtrack were amazing. Unfortunately this movie set the bar so high, the sequels failed miserably to live up...proving once again that 'there can be only one!'

There can only be one This is a crazy movie about immortals that fight with sword & the only way to kill them is to cut off their head, then they take in the others power. Someone was smoking some good stuff making this movie. Submitted by Lee (Alabama) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

$5.99 Nintendo video game perennials Mario and Luigi come to life as plumbers who are thrust into a parallel dimension peopled by the descendents of dinosaurs. It seems that the meteor that hit the earth 65 million years ago (in Brooklyn, no less) didn't kill the dinosaurs, but hurled them into a world in which they have developed into a species of intelligent humanoids. And it is up to the Luigi brothers to save Princess Daisy, and life as we know it, from the megalomaniacal Koopa, who wants to merge the two dimensions and rule the world that will result.

$10.25 John Nada (Roddy Piper) is a quiet loner, a drifter who gets work where ever he can find it. While working on a construction site in L.A. and sleeping in a vagrant community at night, John stumbles upon a secret society of alien beings who pose as wealthy and powerful people in human society. John joins a rebel group commited to exposing this conspiracy, and becomes their reluctant leader and the only hope of the human race. Former wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper is outstanding as the unassuming hero, playing the role with understated shock at what he uncovers and stubborn courage when he confronts it. Director John Carpenter laces the film with his trademark blend of humor and horror, making aliens that are hideously arrogant, greedy, and easy to hate, while the humans are confused and desperate in their struggle against them. The world looks a little different at the end of THEY LIVE, and one will never look at billboards, money, or sunglasses the same way again. The film contains the longest, and perhaps most realistic, fist fight in film history. Paying homage to INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS, the film was based on the short story EIGHT O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING by Ray Nelson.

$12.64 A beautiful woman is actually an instrument of violent revenge in this blood-spattered action story from Japan. In ancient Japan, people live side-by-side with mechanical human replicas, created by rogue inventors, which have suddenly and dangerously gone mad, leaving a remarkable trail of carnage in their wake. Desperate to avenge the killings and restore order, one of the inventors creates an especially powerful robot from the remains of a beautiful princess, who was murdered along with her friends by one of the androids. The mechanically enhanced princess (Aino Kishi) is equipped with 11 deadly weapons, and she's sent out to do battle alongside a human warrior who has a musical instrument so loud it can be used to destroy his enemies. SAMURAI PURINSESU: GEDO-HIME (aka SAMURAI PRINCESS) was the first theatrical feature for director-screenwriter Kengo Kaji; the cast includes two leading stars of the Japanese adult video industry, Aino Kishi and Mihiro Taniguchi. The film received its North American premiere at the 2009 New York Asian Film Festival.
