Audio Mixer: Steve Kempster. Recording information: Todd Ao Scoring Stage. Editor: William Kaplan. Arrangers: Gordon Goodwin; Trevor Rabin. The original soundtrack to the civil rights/football drama Remember the Titans features classic rock, pop, and soul hits like Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky," and Buck Owens' "Act Naturally." Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band's "Express Yourself," Eric Burdon & War's "Spill the Wine," and Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Up Around the Bend" are some of the other high points from this rousing collection, which complements the film's tale of a recently integrated high school football team in the early '70s. ~ Heather Phares In this film based on a true story, Denzel Washington plays Coach Herman Boone, a black football coach chosen to lead a white Virginia high school football team in 1971 following a mandate to integrate this Alexandria district. Can Denzel save the day and pull his charges together even as he faces the obstacle of following in the footsteps of a white predecessor with several years seniority and a steadfast community following? You'll have to see the movie to get the answer, but in the meantime you can bask in the familiar sounds found on the soundtrack. Cat Stevens ("Peace Train") and the inevitable Marvin Gaye/Tammy Terrell duet ("Ain't No Mountain High Enough") provide inspirational and harmonious grist. Elsewhere, early '70s musical staples by The Hollies ("Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress)"), Eric Burdon & War ("Spill the Wine"), Norman Greenbaum ("Spirit in the Sky") and Steam ("Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye") set a feel for the time. The most unexpected selections come from Ike and Tina Turner (Sly Stone's "I Want To Take You Higher"), Charles Wright & The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band (the ultra-funky "Express Yourself") and Buck Owens ("Act Naturally").

Remember The Titans Soundtrack Songs Remember The Titans Soundtrack Music Review Average Rating: (3.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Crisp oldies but limited "Titans" If you're looking for the actual theme music from the movie, "Titans" may not satisfy. It has just one seven-minute cut that's a medly of Trevor Rabin's inspiring movie music.
The remainder of the disc contains 11 very clean recordings of the popular songs -- "Peace Train," "Ain't no Mountain High Enough," etc. -- used in the film. This is one more in the long march toward movie soundtracks that are simply "best of" collections, and movie sequences that increasingly resemble high-budget music videos. Not what I wanted I am really angry because I did not get what I wanted.
The reason I ordered the CD, Remember the Titans, is that I wanted a particular song, The House of the Rising Sun, by Frigid Pink. It was not on the CD. I bought a CD I have no use for. If I had known what was on it, I would not have bought it.

Great soundtrack..but Great soundtrack, but missing quite a few songs.
Better to burn your own CD with the music selections heard in the movie.
The song in question on the first post("missing song in soundtrack") is called "Time Has Come Today" by The Chambers Brothers. Submitted by hazellnut7 (Great Falls, MT) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
