Director Harold Becker
Screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen, Devery Freeman

Upon hearing that Bunker Hill Military Academy will be demolished to make way for condominiums, the cadets barricade themselves inside. With a full arsenal of weapons, the ability to use them and a keen sense of discipline and hierarchy, the kids prove formidable foes of the local police and the parents laying siege to the Academy. But when the National Guard moves in, morale breaks down and the boys slowly start deserting the compound.

A dedicated and honor bound young cadet takes up arms to prevent his military school from being closed.

Sean Penn's film debut.

5 stars SOLID CLASSIC
This is the movie that launched the careers of Timothy Hutton, Sean Pean and Tom Cruise. Also a classic performance by George C Scott as the headmaster. Brings out both the best and worst traditions of a military boarding school and is all but guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat.

DVD $10.49  4.5 stars Top 100
A HARD DAY'S NIGHT presents a fictionalized day in the life of the Beatles as they give a performance on a live television show. Filmed just a month after their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in February 1964, this film--the Beatles' first--introduces us to the unique personalities of each member of the band. The film opens with the Fab Four boarding a train mobbed with adoring young fans (mostly women) as they attempt to travel to the television studio in London. The antics of the band during rehearsals and makeup application provide a large part of the comic material in this feature, though there are other moments of pure hilarity. The unscripted vignette featuring a hangover-suffering Ringo is especially funny, particularly when he is arrested and risks having to miss the broadcast. None of this goes unnoticed by the director of the show, played by Victor Spinetti, who went on to become a recurring cast member in Beatles movies. As the clock ticks away dramatically, our heroes manage to free Ringo from jail and sneak onto the stage in the nick of time, delighted in the knowledge that they have nearly driven the director mad in the process. Arguably the first music video ever made, this faux documentary ...

Billed as "the ultimate parody of anime," EXCEL SAGA certainly goes out of its way to parody every convention of the genre it can. From the cloying J-pop opening, it's clear that this series' sole aim is to be a good-natured farce, one that revolves around a main character who, on the surface is not much different from any other anime heroine. However, the key difference between Excel and all those who preceded her is that Excel is completely and utterly insane and considers it her goal to to conquer the city of F. These episodes find the plot thickening when a number of ...

Ray Barone (Ray Romano) enjoys a successful career as a sportswriter and has a stable, happy family life with a loving wife and three great kids. Unfortunately for Ray, he can't shake the attention of his overbearing parents who live across the street, but spend so much time at the Barone family residence that they might as well live there. Ray's parents love to meddle in his affairs, often with hilarious consequences. Meanwhile, his loser brother, Robert (Brad Garrett), also loves to drop by Ray's place to complain about his life, a habit that exasperates everyone else in the beleaguered family. A hugely popular sitcom from CBS, EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND began in 1996, and the ratings soon soared, placing the show among the Top 10 most watched shows in the country. The ninth season is collected here in its entirety. Standup comedian Ray Romano stars as Ray Barone, a successful sportswriter who deals with his brother and parents, who happen to live across the street. Patricia Heaton (Back To You), Peter Boyle (While You Were Sleeping), Doris Roberts (Remington Steele), and Brad Garrett (Til Death) round out the stellar cast.
