Radio's larger-than-life bad boy, and self-proclaimed "King of All Media," Howard Stern exposes his "Private Parts" in this adaptation of his best-selling autobiography. Tracing his evolution from hopelessly geeky student to top-rated shock jock, the film not only chronicles his legendarily off-color on-air demeanor (Lesbian Dial-a-Date; frequent nude guests) and his continuous battles with management over content and co-hosts, but it also examines his unexpectedly touching and sincere relationship with his wife, Alison. Private Parts Reviews: "...Stern's radio routines are here in all their barrel-bottom-skimming glory..."
-- Ben Thompson, Sight and Sound "...Stern plays himself with disarming self-deprecation..."
-- Susan Wloszczyna, USA Today "...[A] sure-fire hit comedy....The movie develops real sunniness while delivering the insults and innuendoes that are the backbone of Mr. Stern's show..."
-- Janet Maslin, New York Times "...[Stern] proves to be a game and likable actor..."
-- Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly "...PRIVATE PARTS is a supremely crafty, smartly written, and -- given the number of 'himselfs' and 'herselfs' on the cast list -- surprisingly well-acted piece of pop kitsch..."
-- Jack Mathews, Los Angeles Times "...Surprisingly sweet....Many sequences are very funny..."
-- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

| | How The Grinch Stole Christmas DVD (2000) Widescreen
Private Parts movie DVD
$13.59 Director Ron Howard casts comedian Jim Carrey in the title role in this live-action adaptation of the famous Christmas tale by Dr. Seuss, giving this rendition of HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS a delightfully manic spin. Carrey is virtually unrecognizable in his elaborate green makeup, but his anarchic comic touch is unmistakable. He manages to fully embody the grumpy title character, while still supplying his own comedic touches, and it is his performance that makes the film a treat for adults and children alike. The candy-colored set design for the town of Whoville and the jubilant score contribute to the overall feeling of innocuous fantasy that the Grinch disrupts with his dastardly deeds. The familiar story of the Grinch stealing every present in town on Christmas Eve has been expanded to incorporate flashbacks to the Grinch's childhood, which serve to explain his hostility toward the Whos. As Cindy Lou-Who, a little girl so sweet she sees goodness even in the Grinch, young Taylor Momsen strikes just ...

| | Lynne Sachs DVD (2005)
Private Parts DVD
$13.05 For years, film and video artist Lynne Sachs has been pushing the boundaries of the documentary form. Through the mediums of film and video, she has investigated political, feminist, and historical issues in an intimate way that engages the viewer and forces them to think. LYNNE SACHS compiles two of Sachs's earlier works with a number of more recent pieces. In the experimental film BIOGRAPHY OF LILITH (1994), Sachs explores the creation myth through a combination of narrative, collage, and memoir-like approaches. Likewise, 1991's THE HOUSE OF SCIENCE: A MUSEUM OF FALSE FACTS sees Sachs constructing an equally complex collage of performance art, installation, sight, and sound in order to comment on the way in which science and art distort notions of womanhood. This compilation also features ...
