Pixar's 2004 box office smash, featuring the voices of Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter and Samuel L. Jackson. Combining a family-oriented superhero adventure with the brilliant animation of Disney's Pixar (the creators of MONSTERS INC. and FINDING NEMO), THE INCREDIBLES charts new territory in the technical wizardry of computer-generated cartoons. Using complex angles and a filmic sensibility, the animation feels like live action, and smart techniques such as cuts to "grainy film stock" give this movie instant sophistication. Writer-director Brad Bird, with his creative storytelling and well-paced character development, does the rest. This tale is set in a slightly futuristic society where superheroes are no longer appreciated (Read: But I didn't want to be saved!) and are forced to assume a very low profile. So, for Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson), his wife Elastigirl (Holly Hunter), and his three fledgling superhero kids, maintaining a lifestyle of mediocrity in order to appear normal causes constant friction. When the opportunity suddenly arises for the Incredibles to use their powers to fight evil, it's trial-by-fire to learn to work as a superteam. Together they must stop the maniacal Syndrome (Jason Lee) from unleashing a murderous robot in a big city. Fast action and violence involving large explosions make this a film that is better suited for older children rather than the very little ones. Yet family themes and comic episodes prevail, with eclectic characters like Edna the fashion designer (voiced by Bird himself) and the iceman Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson) adding extra moments of fun. THEATRICAL RELEASE: NOVEMBER 5, 2004 Incredibles Reviews: "[V]isually splendid and ethically serious....The movie is also refreshingly quiet, using music sparingly and showing as much attention to aural nuance as it does to visual detail."-- A. O. Scott, New York Times "[A] piece of animation that's involving across a spectrum of comedy, action, even drama....Blessedly funny, there is also a surprising air of poignancy about much of it..."-- Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times "[O]ne of the year's most clever and visually arresting computer-animated films, enlivened by a well-developed and credible cast of characters who just happen to be superheroes."-- Claudia Puig, USA Today "[A] great story, a rich micro-universe of pixel-driven cartoon characters with more depth, complexity, and emotional maturity than those in most live-action dramas....Indeed incredible."
-- Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly "[A] film that breaks fresh ground....Bird has crafted a film -- one of the year's best -- that doesn't ring cartoonish, it rings true."
-- Peter Travers, Rolling Stone "[Bird's] ingenious self-penned script is heaving with brilliantly realised characters, snide putdowns and sharp one-liners that enhance the head-spinning action sequences with razor-sharp wit."
-- Andrew Sumner, Uncut "[A] light comedy at heart....[The film] manages a great deal of genuine excitement..."
-- Kim Newman, Sight and Sound "The storytelling is as witty as it is brisk."

More fun than a Remote control Robot! As with all of the Disney/Pixar collaborations this one is a lot of fun. The detail of the animation continues to impress me. The extras included with this DVD set keeps the fun going even after the credit run. A definite Must Have! Submitted by TallLeo0877 (Atlanta, GA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
If you loved the movie, you will love the DVD more! The bonus features are hillarious, especially Jack-Jack Attack. The commentary and original opening were very interesting.
If you loved the movie, you will love the DVD. More of the same humor style adds to the entertainment.

It's not FINDING NEMO but it's still very clever. The first time I saw this in the theater I did not fall in love with it. I did really enjoy it though. Thought it was a bit dark for the very younger kids (scary situations). I saw it with my six year old daughter who liked it also but again, not in love with it. I bought the DVD because I had a feeling it was one of those films that you enjoyed more every time you saw it and I WAS RIGHT. I am really liking it even more having seen it a few times. There are many tiny details you just don't pick up on the first viewing and I just adore the "every man" situation they find themselves in. The DVD is a great addition to our collection. $23.45 Co-helmed by WALL-E director Andrew Stanton, FINDING NEMO follows Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks), an overprotective clown fish father, as he desperately searches the farthest reaches of the sea for his missing son Nemo. Marlin's journey leads him beyond the Great Barrier Reef into deeper and darker waters, where he meets Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), a forgetful yet optimistic blue tang, and a number of not-so-friendly--and often very hungry--aquatic creatures. Meanwhile, little Nemo finds himself in a dentist's fish tank in Syndey, Australia, along with other underwater captives, including Gill (Willem Dafoe), the group's scarred Moorish idol leader. As Nemo works with his new friends on a plan to escape their tank, Marlin and Dory swim closer, but they'll need more than just fins to get into the dentist's office.
This fifth computer-animated outing by Pixar continues the company's remarkable winning streak that began with TOY STORY. Like other Pixar films, FINDING NEMO features ...

$10.45 Sam Raimi's follow-up to SPIDER-MAN finds Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) struggling to balance his everyday life with his alter ego as the web-slinging superhero. Still carrying the burden of keeping his crime-fighting identity from those closest to him--including his longtime love Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst), his best friend Harry Osborn (James Franco), and his doting Aunt May (Rosemary Harris)--Parker must also face off against a dangerous new menace, Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina), a scientist driven mad by experiments involving powerful mechanical arms. When the deranged Octavius (AKA Doc Ock) forms an alliance with the vengeful Osborn, who blames Spider-Man for the death of his father, the wall-crawling hero is in for his biggest battle yet.
With SPIDER-MAN 2, Raimi retains--and improves on--all of the elements that made the first film so good, including an excellent story (crafted, in part, by acclaimed novelist Michael Chabon), tight pacing, and stunning special effects. Parker's internal conflicts are even greater than before, and Maguire adds emotional depth to every scene. Returning actors Dunst, Franco, Harris, and J.K. Simmons (once again portraying Parker's tough-talking boss, J. Jonah Jameson) are all pitch-perfect in their roles, and, as the once-noble Octavius, Molina is remarkable, relishing his villainous lines, while giving the character a surprisingly vulnerable side. Throughout the movie, Raimi expertly balances drama and humor with dynamic action sequences, making SPIDER-MAN 2 feel more like a continuation of the original tale rather than an obligatory sequel. For a Hollywood movie, that's a real feat.
The Spider-Man 2 Special Edition DVD features the following:
Disc One
- Commentary with director Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire, producer Avi Arad and co-producer Grant Curtis
- Technical Commentary
- Blooper Reel
- Spidey Sense 2 Trivia track with "pop-up" facts and trivia about the film and the worl
