| | Baby's Best of the Babys CD (2005)
Good Time: Live In Memphis music CDs
$6.05 The title of CEMA Special Markets' The Best of the Babys shouldn't be taken too literally. Yes, the budget-priced collection does contain almost all of their hits -- "Silver Dreams," "Every Time I Think of You," "Back on My Feet Again," "Midnight Rendezvous," "Turn and Walk Away" -- but inexplicably bypasses their highest-charting single, "Isn't It Time." Actually, that may be explicable: if all the big tunes were on a budget-line compilation, there would be no reason for many casual fans to purchase the fully formed Anthology. This leaves The Best of the Babys in a curious position -- song for song, it's stronger than the average budget-line compilation, yet it's missing a song that would truly make it of interest to casual fans. Some listeners will be willing to overlook this oversight, and if they do, they'll likely be pleased with the rest of the disc, considering its price. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Yes, the budget-priced collection does contain almost all of their hits -- "Silver Dreams," "Every Time I Think of You," "Back on My Feet Again," "Midnight Rendezvous," "Turn and Walk Away" -- but it inexplicably bypasses their highest-charting single, "Isn't ...

Good Time: Live In Memphis songs
$5.85 In 1980 and 1981, many people in the music world suspected that Lionel Richie would soon be leaving the Commodores to pursue a solo career -- and sure enough, he officially became a full-time solo artist in 1982. In the Pocket, released in 1981, turned out to be his final album with the group. Not surprisingly, Richie dominates the album, singing lead on everything from adult contemporary ballads like "Lucy" and "Oh No" (a number four pop/number five R&B smash) to the sophisticated funk of "Why You Wanna Try Me" and the Top Five R&B favorite "Lady (You Bring Me Up)." Walter Orange and Thomas McClary also contribute some lead ...
