Closed Captioned; Soundtrack English; English Subtitles John Wayne stars as the sheriff of a small western town who arrests a murderer and then must contend with the aggressive efforts of the killer's brother to free him before the state marshall arrives. Surrounding the town, the villains make repeated runs at the tiny jailhouse where their comrade is incarcerated. The sheriff is left to defend the territory almost single-handedly -- his only aid being a rag-tag crew of misfits, including a drunk, an old cripple, a saloon woman, and a singing teenager. The plot's tensions build to one of the most explosive finales in cinema history. No-nonsense Texas border sheriff John T. Chance (John Wayne) fights off ruthless mercenary gunmen in order to keep a murderer in custody. A ragtag band of volunteers, consisting of a singing kid, a toothless old man, a recovering alcoholic, and a spunky woman, assist. Contains an interesting sing-along interlude among the group, and yes, the Duke participates. Shot in Technicolor. $6.99 Frank Pierce (Bruce Cabot) is a ruthless man bent on manipulating the cattle business towards his own wealth and prosperity. When Taw Jackson (John Wayne), an honest rancher, interferes with his plans, Pierce imprisons him and confiscates his gold-filled land. Escaping the prison, Taw plans a raid on Pierce's heavily guarded pay roll carriage, but not if Pierce has anything to say about it. After assembling a group of misfits and hired guns, Taw runs into serious opposition when he encounters the madcap gunslinger, Lomax (Kirk Douglas). Sent by Pierce to stop the raid, Lomax winds up taking a liking to Taw, and they decide to join forces and stage a raid on Pierce's WAR WAGON.
Famous for its fighting scenes between John Wayne and Kirk Douglas, WAR WAGON is quintessential of its genre. WAR WAGONS features astonishing stunts and pyrotechnics. Advanced for its time (it was released in 1969) one would think Kennedy produced it in the mid '70s. The climactic end scene which pits Douglas and Wayne against a Gatling gun has spawned similar scenes in RED DAWN and YOUNG GUNS. WAR WAGON is a modern and triumphant film.

$7.85 This fish-out-of-water film was the beginning of a long association between Don Siegel and Clint Eastwood, who stars as the eponymous deputy sheriff from Arizona. The cowboy-cop is sent to New York City to extradite escaped murderer James Ringerman (Don Stroud), only to be told by police lieutenant McElroy (Lee J. Cobb) that the killer is recovering from an acid trip at Bellevue Hospital and can be released only with his doctors' approval. After some low-key flirtation with probation officer Julie Roth (Susan Clark), Coogan decides to take the bull by the horns and tricks Ringerman's Bellevue attendants into releasing him. However, on the way to the airport, the Arizona-bound cop is waylaid by Ringerman's amusingly wacked-out girlfriend, Linny (Tisha Sterling), and beaten senseless by a goon, allowing his prisoner to escape. Later, while in Julie's apartment, he surreptitiously extracts Linny's file to get her address and tracks her to an Electric Circus-like club whose habitués he regards with utter disdain, and he persuades the ditsy woman to take him back to her apartment. An amusing action film, COOGAN'S BLUFF makes much of the irony of the laconic Old West, with Eastwood being equally put off by both the bureaucratically hamstrung cops and the acid-fueled hippies. Cobb and Clark are good in supporting roles.

Rio Bravo movie DVD
$67.79 Producer/creator Mark Burnett unleashed a pop culture phenomenon--and changed the face of early-21st-century television--with his hugely popular reality series SURVIVOR. Singlehandedly ushering in the age of reality-television, the action-adventure series more than lives up to its name as real-world contestants are divided into opposing teams and stranded in a remote location to compete in daredevil challenges in pursuit of a million-dollar prize. The team that wins each challenge earns either a prize or immunity, while the losing team faces an elimination round where one member is ceremoniously dismissed. Adding a human element to the cutthroat competition are the personal interactions between team members, which impact the game through strategic alliances--or dooming enmities. This best-of collection combines the greatest moments from the first (Borneo), second (Australian Outback), seventh (Pearl Islands), and eighth (All-Stars) seasons.

$37.89 Old TV Westerns never die, they just make fans pine for shows where justice was served by a six-shooter and the boundaries between good and evil were clearly drawn by white and black hats. This family Western is no exception to that golden rule, and the stagecoach-stop backdrop is just as endearing today as it was when the show first glowed on TV sets in the late 1950s.
