With footage so rare that is was discovered on an Ebay auction, THE VINTAGE is a dream come true for the KISS fan. Comprising extremely candid behind-the-scenes footage, the video uncovers some long-standing KISS mysteries, including the reason for the legendary face paint and the reason drummer Peter Criss quit the band. In addition, two short silent films, both containing live performances from 1974 to 1977 and one of which was shot by a fan on Super-8 film, are included. Well worth the price Well, spandex boy is wrong. This is great KISS. I wasn't a big fan of the KISS '80 versions. To me KISS is what's on this video.
Great for any KISS fan. Submitted by marcelloesd (Palm Beach FL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
80's better than the 70s?!? In your dreams spandex boy This DVD is an excellent purchase for anyone interested in seeing one of the greatest bands of all time. The reviewer above me, obviously knows nothing of the magic, mystery, charisma and POWER of the original and ONLY KISS (1973 - 1979) and was most likely weened on the pathetic, commercial, hair-bandish JUNK of the gayties (I mean 80's).
Yes, this truely vintage footage from 1974 IS silent but for fans of the band, it's an absolute treasure. For the casual fan, I would suggest something like "Second Coming" (which pays great tribute to the great, original KISS and properly skips past the useless 80's version rather quickly.)
Bottom line: If you're a person interested in *viewing* 'The Hottest Band In The Land' at their earliest, but still bombastically exciting incarnation, buy THE VINTAGE and put KISS or HOTTER THAN HELL in your CD player(for audio)....then begin to feel jealous of those lucky people, who were privileged enough to be there.

Kiss - The Vintage film
$9.55 Personnel: Tom Araya (vocals); Jeff Hanneman, Kerry King (guitar); Dave Lombardo (drums). Audio Mixer: Greg Fidelman. Editor: Dan Monti. Photographer: Andrew Stewart. Of the "big four" original thrash bands (the other three being Metallica, Anthrax, and Megadeth), Slayer was the least compromising and most consistent. As such, 2009's WORLD PAINTED BLOOD recalled more than the title of Slayer's 1986 masterpiece REIGN IN BLOOD; it shared the earlier album's ferocious aggression and trademark speed metal-meets-hardcore sound. Throughout, the sound is lean and mean, with bassist/vocalist Tom Araya's vocals mixed relatively dry and upfront, giving the album a bracing, fist-to-the-face force. Jackhammer tracks such as "Hate Worldwide" and "Psychopathy Red" are short, no muss-no fuss blasts of double kick drum, minor key-riffing fury, with an unrelenting intensity that requires little in the way of sonic or textural variation. The title track, on the other hand, is a somewhat slower dose of classic chugga-chugga head-banging which showcases Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman's shrieking, emotive guitar work. ...

Kiss - The Vintage movie DVD
$15.25 Queen: Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon. Additional personnel: Elton John, George Michael, David Bowie, Montserrat Caballe (vocals); Wyclef Jean, Pras (rap vocals). Producers include: Queen, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, David Richards, Mike Moran. Recorded between 1974 & 1997. Includes liner notes by Jim Jenkins, Jacky Smith, Andy Davis, Phil Symes. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Queen's The Platinum Collection collection places the group's three previously released Greatest Hits albums into one box set -- colored platinum, of course. Although this doesn't serve much use for fans that already have all three collections -- or all of the albums, for that matter -- it is useful for listeners that want to get all three discs in one fell swoop, and it's not a bad item for collectors to pick up (the kind of collectors that collect items and product, not the ones that just need the music). ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine With Queen officially enshrined in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, Hollywood Records reintroduces the band yet again with the release of GREATEST HITS I, ...

| | Rickie Lee Jones Balm In Gilead CD (2009)
Kiss - The Vintage film
$14.30 Lyricist: Rickie Lee Jones. Audio Mixer: Rob Schnapf. Photographer: Rickie Lee Jones. Captain Beefheart was known to playfully admonish fans shouting out requests at his shows by saying, "You know I'm gonna do exactly what I want." No one has documented Rickie Lee Jones saying the same thing, but in the course of a recording career that's just entered its third decade, she's made it clear that she shares the same philosophy, and she's bravely followed her muse wherever it chooses to go, rather than rehashing the sound and style of RICCKIE LEE JONES and PIRATES, the acclaimed early recordings which made her a star. Jones certainly hasn't lost her love for the blues and jazz flavors that dominated her best-known work, but on 2009's BALM IN GILEAD, there's significantly less flash and swagger in her music; instead, these performances speak of ...
