This DVD Audio is a re-mastering of the original 1998 album by the band in 5.1 Audio.
This is a DVD-Audio disc. The DVD-Audio content can only be read by a DVD-Audio player. The Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS audio tracks provided on this disc will play on a standard DVD player. Many who listen to this album will say "Hey, this isn't punk" after not finding the power chords and 1-4-5 structures that they associate with poppy skate rock bands like NOFX and Lagwagon, but this is what revolution is all about. Taking a industry of specifications and expectations and turning it fully on its head, yet holding on to some semblance of what once was. Refused are pure innovation and passion spouting Nation of Ulysses-esque doctrine while fusing together the bite and flavor of fist-raised, Dillinger Escape Plan-style hardcore with ambient textures, jazz breakdowns, and other such deviations. Choppy, beautiful movements, choked thoughts, and feelings of elevation. This is what punk is all about friends, although to the common ear it may not sound like it -- and that is precisely one of the reasons why it is so potent. ~ Blake Butler Hardcore punk band Refused opened up and expanded their sound for THE SHAPE OF PUNK TO COME (a take-off on the title of the classic avant-jazz disc by Ornette Coleman, THE SHAPE OF JAZZ TO COME). They've become more sophisticated in their presentation, but still maintain their crunching, take-no-prisoners musical ethic--when they let the guitars kick in, they still manage to deliver a brutal, politically inspired racket. Shape Of Punk To Come Music Shape Of Punk To Come Music Shape Of Punk To Come Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Great use of DVD audio Refused is one of the few great groups that knows how the use sound spectrum to its fullest. How many punk bands can use a accordin and a zilaphone. And have it sound great. What a blend of highs and lows . Your ears will be well pleased. As well as your tweeters and sub woofers Submitted by woodrat (Grafton, MA , USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
one of the classics. If you think you are a punk, or into hardcore and metal, and you don't have this cd, you need it.
From the intelligent and inspiring anti capitalist lyrics to the pure genius of the music, this intense, melodic, passionate heavy hitting album will get you going from start to finish.
There is absolutely nothing like refused out there. They did their own thing and hundreds of bands later in my cd collection, nothing has touched them.
They will inspire you and open your eyes to a new kind of hardcore, far beyond the usual predictable regurgitated hardcore we hear every day.
And what other hardcore band has so much integrity that they break up upon getting famous, to stay true to their beliefs?
Each song is different, so give the whole album a chance.
Also check out the one before this, "songs to fan the flames of discontent".
Refused is a must have for any true punk or hardcore fan.

This is a DVD-Audio disc. The DVD-Audio content can only be read by a DVD-Audio player. The Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS audio tracks provided on this disc will play on a standard DVD player. Following the 1973 Time Fades Away tour, Neil Young wrote and recorded an Irish wake of a record called Tonight's the Night and went on the road drunkenly playing its songs to uncomprehending listeners and hostile reviewers. Reprise rejected the record, and Young went right back and made On the Beach, which shares some of the ragged style of its two predecessors. But where Time was embattled and Tonight mournful, On the Beach was savage and, ultimately, triumphant. "I'm a vampire, babe," Young sang, and he proceeded to take ...

Shape Of Punk To Come
$18.05 Composed and conducted by Burt Bacharach. is a Hybrid DVD Audio Disc, which is a two-sided DVD disc with DVD-Audio content on one side and DVD-Video content on the other. Burt Bacharach appropriately comes up with a rambunctious soundtrack for the 1967 James Bond spoof, Casino Royale. Things get underway with Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass' performance of the fast-paced main title, which features the usual Bacharach mix of pop phrasing and complex arrangements; this theme is subsequently augmented with a lush string arrangement and marching band rhythms on "Sir James' Trip ...
