After the opening track, "Hey Jude," by Puerto Rican singer Tony Vega, Tito Nieves and the percussion virtuoso Tito Puente deliver a freewheeling "Let It Be." | | Poco Original Album Classics CDs (2008) Box Set
Quiero Ser
$31.45 2008 five CD box. The Original Album Classics series, courtesy of Sony/BMG, packages together five classic albums from one of the most popular artists on the label's roster, housing them in an attractive slipcase. This set from the Country rockers features the albums Pickin Up The Pieces (1969), Poco (1970), From The Inside (1971), Good Feelin' To Know (1972) and Crazy Eyes (1973).
Personnel: Chris Hillman, Milton Holland, Jim Messina, Joe Lala, Larry Knechtel, Paul Cotton, Paul Harris , Richie Furay, Rusty Young, Timothy B. Schmit, Bill Graham, George Grantham, Bobby Doyle. This box set collects five of the eight albums Poco recorded for Columbia's Epic Records imprint between 1969 and 1974 (the band parted ways with the label and signed with ABC Records in 1975) and aside from 1971's live Deliverin' (which isn't included here), it provides a neat capsule history of the Richie Furay era of the group (Furay left Poco following 1973's Crazy Eyes, the latest album collected in this set). A band that was just a blink ahead of its time, Poco was a bit too country for the rock audiences of the day and a bit too rock for the country crowd back then, but they paved the ...
| | Chris Band Shutters World Apart CD (2009)
Quiero Ser
$17.75 The Chris Shutters Band started off as a blues band. With their own originals and a few covers, they went on to compete in the 2007 Black Swamp Blues Competition. Over 40 greatly-respected bands and artists performed that year for the competition. They ended up winning this National event and continued down to Memphis, TN to compete in the International Competition. They did not win this event, so they chalked it down for experience and moved on. This year they won the 2008 Regional Battle of the Bands for northwest Ohio in the pop/rock category. Out of 121 very talented bands, they moved on to have the honor of opening up for Ted Nugent at the Rib Off on the Lucas County Fairgrounds. They have also opened for artists such as: Bad Company, Molly Hatchet, and Frijid Pink. The other two members are most definitely an extraordinary addition to this band. Frank āFrankieā May (26), bass player of the band, is one of the most sought after bass players in the area. Opening for "Blue Oyster Cultā with his father a few years back was a defining moment for his great reputation. Playing a six string bass, he joined the band almost two years ago and has continued to carry the weight of this band. Matt Schieferstein (26), drummer for the band, has opened for "Great White" with a local metal band this past year. He is the newest member and has become the ābackboneā of the band. He proudly carries a bachelor degree in music to show for his incredible talent. As a veteran, he has been teaching drums for a few years now and has a wide variety of students at many different ages. The two of them together are probably the strongest two piece rhythm section around. Chris Shutters (22) is the songwriter, lead guitarist, and vocalist of the group. He is also known for his flute playing, sounding a lot like Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull; whom he met a few years ago. With other groups, he has opened for Eddie Money and Eddie āThe Chiefā Clearwater. He has also shook the hands of many greats such as: B.B King, Buddy Guy,(rubbed elbows with)Ian Anderson, members from Molly Hatchet, Bad Company, Eddie Clearwater, Frijid Pink, Robin Trower, and even on a political sense, Senator John Glenn and President Barack Obama. This is a band with unbelievable talent in which performs over one hundred or so shows a year; traveling all over the country doing so. They take pride in their abilities to portray themselves, not only as a band, but individually within the band through their music. The Chris Shutters Band has been heard locally on many radio stations, the news, and even television shows. They know a tremendous amount ...
