| | Coldplay - Back To The Start DVD Coldplay CDS
(2 Customer Reviews)
Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Soundtrack English This unofficial release profiles alternative rock sensations Coldplay. Drawing on interviews with the band, as well as friends and colleagues, this is a fascinating insight into the men behind such heart-wrenching material as "Yellow." Plagues by insecurities, singer Chris Martin is an interesting, unconventional frontman, which perhaps goes some way to explaining why they create such a unique sound.

Coldplay - Back To The Start Movie Review Average Rating: (1 out of 5 stars) Where's The Band???? Honestly, if you were going to make a DOCUMENTARY video on a band as massive and awesome as COLDPLAY, wouldn't you include some live footage and interviews of them? Well, this DVD has nothing of that sort! Basically, it's a compiled collection of completely random, arbitrary people some who have not even heard of the band!!!! This is coming from a HUGE Fan of COLDPLAY, so please, if you are a fan as well, save your money and get something like Live 2003 (which features live footage and a funny/endearing tour diary! ^__^). | | Nine Inch Nails Fixed (1998)
Coldplay - Back To The Start review
$6.55 The companion piece to Trent Reznor's explosive industrial rock / metal opus Broken, Fixed sees the songs twisted through an intense remix process that makes them even darker than the original doom rock creations they began as. With contributions from noted studio experts like J.G. Thirlwell, Coil, Butch Vig, and Reznor himself, the more industrial versions of these guitar-themed tracks appear in a completely new light. The mixes range from sinisterly quiet to more beat- and drum-oriented, but they also retain the awesome power of the core compositions. The remix of the Grammy-winning "Wish," for instance, features a lengthy, saturated drum intro, which only gives it more credence when it erupts into the original buzz-saw guitar riff that dominates the track. Other mixes incorporate backwards tapes and difficult-to-pinpoint noise manipulations, but rather than building the songs to the point where things grow tedious, they tend to completely tear them apart while adding to the apocalyptic vision that envelopes the original disc. Even though Nine Inch Nails was thrust into the mainstream spotlight, this record ...
| | Mars Volta Tremulant EP CD (2002)
Coldplay - Back To The Start DVD
$7.79 When At the Drive-In decapitated itself, it basically split a whole into two halves; the Mars Volta took up the more ethereal, spacy, and experimental one. This project seems to pretty much abandon the nearly radio-friendly station they had previously taken up with Relationship of Command by creating an epic-length masterpiece of quirky, spacious sound rather than the more upfront rock aspects (the half of which is now embodied in the other ATDI offshoot band, Sparta). With Tremulant, ...
| | Porcupine Tree Deadwing CD (2005)
Coldplay - Back To The Start movie DVD
$9.49 Considering their cinematic scope, it's fitting that the songs on DEADWING were actually inspired by a film script written by Porcupine Tree mastermind Steven Wilson. Not that this should come as any surprise to longtime fans who know the UK act's reputation for churning out epic progressive rock so sonically descriptive that it's practically visual.
Porcupine Tree creates works with complex structures that do not alienate or obscure the songs themselves, pieces that are dark and psychedelic without being sinister. On the 12-minute opening title track, weighty guitar riffs and spacious synths immediately recall Nine Inch Nails, but swooping ...

Coldplay - Back To The Start video
$12.35 This remastered edition features a 14-track bonus disc of rarities that includes numerous demos, studio outtakes, and live performances.
For a band that's known worldwide as the premier purveyors of goth-rock gloom and doom (though hardly incapable of sparkling pop gems), it's no small thing to identify a particular album as their darkest, most disturbing sonic statement. Nevertheless, PORNOGRAPHY surely fills the bill. Reportedly created during a time of great psychological upheaval for group leader Robert Smith, it's a gloriously no-holds-barred existential angst-fest, from the very first line, "It doesn't matter if we all die." Not since Leonard Cohen's SONGS OF LOVE AND HATE had despair been so lovingly ladled into album form, but it's ...

Over the course of his musical career, Trent Reznor has managed to deliver a full-length studio album about every five years. Although he's a bit late with 2005's WITH TEETH (following 1999's THE FRAGILE), listeners are rewarded with Nine Inch Nails' most streamlined and straightforward record since PRETTY HATE MACHINE. Here Reznor cuts back on programming and synthesizers, opting for heavy use of guitars, bass, and--surprisingly--piano and live drums. In fact, the album's secret weapon is drummer Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana), whose thunderous percussive ...
