Taking three years to release their follow-up to Mutter is a good idea since Reise, Reise is more of the same -- the same grit, the same growl, and the same dramatic, orchestra choruses. There's a bit more ingenuity in the production and a little more focus in the songs but not enough for the nonfaithful to pick up on. Unfortunately the lead single, "Mein Teil," is no "Du Hast," but the damning "Amerika" almost equals their breakthrough track. Whether or not Rammstein's label has the guts to release the band's acerbic "Coca-Cola/Sometimes War" view of the States as a single is another question, but it's the key track to the album, an album that has a couple more, minor surprises. The loose, bluesy guitar on "Los" adds some quirk to the band's stern, Teutonic palette, while the sinister "Stein Um Stein" creeps more than stomps in parts. That's it for twists and turns, but few bands can industrially grind as convincingly as Rammstein. Same as it ever was, Reise, Reise won't do much to increase the band's fan base, but being a tight, free-of-filler album, it'll satisfy the faithful. ~ David Jeffries One of the more unlikely success stories in music-business history, German heavy-metal collective Rammstein creates a totally uncompromising and wildly (some would say ridiculously) dramatic sound that combined elements of goth, industrial, Wagnerian opera, and progressive rock, with lyrics sung almost exclusively in German. Rammstein's concerts were even more over-the-top than the ensemble's recorded output, matching the performance art-inspired wackiness of Devo with the gross-out antics of Gwar. On its fourth album, REISE, REISE, the group continues on its mission to be one of the heaviest, spookiest, and most bizzare acts in rock, delivering one bone crunching, sci-fi/monster-movie-like epic after another. The title track mates effects-laden My Bloody Valentine-style guitars with Dream Theater-like twists and turns, while "Morgenstern" features a chorus that sounds straight out of an Alpine beer hall operated by Freddy Krueger. The most significant break with the classic Rammstein sound, however, comes with "Los," which is driven by a surprisingly bluesy acoustic guitar. Often sounding less like a band and more like the disembodied product of a haunted, demon-possessed recording studio, REISE, REISE will undoubtedly please any fan of extreme music.
The German kings of power metal never stray too far from controversy and this is the follow up to their breakthu album "Mutter". The wall of sound comes at you at 1,000 mph and won’t let up! Features the first single "Mein Teil".CMJ (p.16) - "[S]ung completely in Rammstein's native German, accompanied by harsh riffs that are punctuated by blips, samples and sprawling synths." Kerrang (Magazine) (p.52) - "Pulverizing and beautiful at the same time." One of the best Rammstein albums I like a lot "reise, reise" because it is not as "electric" as other Rammstein cd's. This cd contains good hard rock, has the Rammstein seal, but with a good raw sound. Submitted by rulo_camai (Mexico City, Mexico) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$11.99 "A terrific debut album! Unearthed gems...clever and intelligent...a talented singer with a sonorous instrument, each and every lyric is interpreted with a clarity of sound and spirit. Cindy Benson can send shivers!" Lesley Alexander WRTN-FM/WVOX-AM "Lilting, amusing and occasionally heart-breaking delivery...this uplifting and well-crafted release is one of the finest examples of post-Broadway recordings" Tom Kidd-The Music Connection Cindy Benson is a tiny wisp of a thing with a voice that can break your heart one moment and leave you laughing helplessly the next. She travels genres and cross-pollinates cabaret with jazz and musical theater, injecting each style with her unmistakable personality. She somehow transforms her voice to inhabit an extraordinary range of material from the stratospheric intro of "Mr. Paganini" to a rich contralto in "Can't Help Lovin' That Man". Listening to her sing, you can feel each mood, expression, smile and sigh that brings her music alive. This collection of songs is truly a journey through the whims, the woe and whimsy of one of the most talented performers today. Cindy Benson debuts her recording after a successful tenure on the Broadway stage starring as both the comedic lead, Mme. Thenardier, in LES MISERABLES, and the delightful 200-pound tap-dancing Gumbie Cat, Jennyanydots, in CATS. Off-Broadway credits include originating the role of Sister Robert Ann in NUNSENSE, as well as creating the wild and wacky Donna the Dominatrix in Paul Bartel's EATING RAOUL. She performed for PBS' GREAT PERFORMANCES at Symphony Hall in Boston, appeared with the Houston Grand Opera, and has won the Manhattan Association of Cabaret's Excellence in Musical Comedy Award. She can be heard on the original cast albums of LES MISERABLES, EATING RAOUL, ALL THAT HE WAS, BILLY BARNES REVUED, and on the S.T.A.G.E Series recording of ADLER, BOCK AND COLEMAN. Cindy works in Television & Film and has performed at the Mark Taper Forum (The First Picture Show) and The Reprise! Series ( Mack & Mabel). She is also a member of Theatre Neo and The Colony Theatre in Los Angeles. Cindy was nominated for the 1998 Los Angeles Theatre Ovation Award for her role as the eccentrically ...
| | In Flames Soundtrack To Your Escape CD (2004) (Import) Bonus Track
Reise, Reise
$31.05 Additional Tracks
In Flames: Anders Friden (vocals); Bjorn Gelotte, Jesper Stromblad (guitar); Peter Iwers (bass); Daniel Svensson (drums). Recorded in Denmark. Asian exclusive release features a bonus track, a live version of "Clayman," as well as a bonus DVD (NTSC/region code 0) with live performances of three songs, "System," "Pinball Map," and "Episode 666." In Flames was certainly under the extreme-metal microscope upon the release of Soundtrack to Your Escape and its predecessor, Reroute to Remain. The band had the potential to crack the metal underground wide to the mainstream, existing on the cusp of international stardom with its progressive extrapolations upon the Swedish metal genre they helped create. Fact is, Soundtrack to Your Escape exists to further polarize In Flames' fan base -- "Touch of Red" and opening cut "F(r)iend" are their heaviest riff monsters since Colony, which blatantly contrast "The Quiet Place," which is jammed with cascading guitar melodies and a thick, sticky chorus which, in a just world, would make for a rock-radio smash. Anders Fridén is again using a myriad of vocal styles, including his mid-range death rasp (see "Dead Alone," with its old-school Swedish riffs seamlessly morphing into melodic passages), an awkward clean croon ("Like You Better Dead," "My Sweet Shadow"), and an electronically enhanced warble, all of which are multi-tracked for many choruses -- proving that Fridén may be In Flames' most powerful weapon now that the band's trademark ornate guitar flights are used somewhat sparingly. Some may cry foul when confronted by a lush ballad like "Evil in a Closet" or the relatively straightforward riffing of ...

$17.69 Ben then got an invitation to sing at the Apollo theater in Harlem, NY. This is where Ben struck gold, while singing there. One of Paul Simon's (60's group Simon & Garfunkel) talent scouts heard Ben sing and he was fascinated by his golden voice, immediately setting up a private audition for Paul himself. Ben walked into the audition and and sang a Sam Cooke song, "Change Is Gonna Come," and instantly got the singing job for Paul Simon. Paul was looking for singers for a new musicial he was producing called "Capeman." Ben worked closely with Paul and learned much from him. In a interview, Ben said he cried when he got his first Paul Simon paycheck and he copied it and sent it to his mother. Ben started out as backup singer and then eventually was cast as the lead singer for the project. The music was recored at "Hit Factory" studio in NYC. Ben also became a favorite at the Apollo theather - Harlem loved him and he continued to be a regular at the Apollo, which was hosted by Sinbad. To this date, Ben has done over 50 concerts at the Apollo.Ben was also becoming very much in demand in the NYC music industry - everybody wanted him. There is a nightclub in Greenwich Village, off Bleeker Street, called Café Wha. It was known for its history and awesome talents that have passed through it. Many majors acts got their first break there - Bob Dylan, Bill Cosby, Bruce Springsteen, Jimi Hendrix, Richard Pryor and many others. The owner, Noam Dworman, asked Ben to join their house band, which played 7 nights a week. Ben accepted and was in the band for years, even while contiuning to work with other acts. Ben met a lot of people at The Wha and had tons of fun. The owners, Manny and Noam Dworman, treated Ben ...

Personnel: B. James Lowry (acoustic guitar); Jeff King (electric guitar); J.T. Corenflos (baritone guitar); Mike Johnson (dobro); Joe Spivey (fiddle); Mike Rojas , John Jarvis, Gordon Mote (organ); Mike Brignardello (bass guitar); Paul Leim (drums); Russell Terrell (background vocals). Released in 2007, Luke Bryan's debut, I'LL STAY ME, finds the Georgia-born country singer-songwriter offering up an assured first album. With his amiable, laid-back demeanor, Bryan easily conveys a guy-next-door charm, particularly on his initial hit single, the humorously hapless "All My Friends Say." Although Bryan doesn't exactly buck Nashville tradition, his straight-ahead approach allows his well-crafted songs to shine, ensuring a promising career ahead. Luke Bryan's debut album for Capitol Nashville is about as country as the music gets these days. Rather than borrow form Tim McGraw or Big & Rich, he takes his inspiration from more timeless and perhaps timeworn carriers of the Nash Vegas tradition like Randy Travis and Alan Jackson. Bryan's also a songwriter in the best sense of the word, especially when it comes to sticking close ...
