Disney's THE INCREDIBLES features not only extraordinary storytelling and animation, but also a musical score equally exquisite in its construction and scope. Combining rich orchestral tapestries with big-band jazz and a healthy dose of 1960s-era rock, the score by composer Michael Giacchino recalls the work of such legendary composers as Elmer Bernstein, Henry Mancini, and Lalo Schifrin.
Highlights include "Lava in the Afternoon," which is a mix of lounge-jazz and film noir overtones, and "Saving Metroville," a rocking piece that features vociferous timpani, ominous string effects, and loud trombone bellows. "Kronos Unveiled" and "Mr. Huph Will See You Now" employ wispy harp arpeggios, dark percussive effects, and chirpy flute trills. But perhaps the most stunning track on THE INCREDIBLES is the swinging big-band chart entitled "Life's Incredible Again." This piece uses sharp brass punctuations and smoky saxophone motifs to create a joyous party atmosphere. Overall, this soundtrack is both exciting and thought-provoking, due to Giacchino's imaginative compositions, Tim Simonec's colorful orchestrations, and the wonderful studio players who render this music so vividly.

Incredibles Soundtrack Songs Incredibles Soundtrack Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) Great Score Giacchino is one of the best "New Blood" composers. After some years working in the field of videogame scores (with great works like the "Medal Of Honor" saga) has come his first great oportunity in movies. You will not be dissapointed, his work on The Incredibles is a superb homage to the John Barry scores from the 007 Saga. Great sound and melodies Submitted by germanizida2 (Barcelona (Spain)) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
The glorious landmark musical score of 2004. Simply put, this is the greatest and the most glorious musical score recording for any motion picture production to be released in 2004, and an historical landmark on its own. As does the motion picture it accompanies, there is not a single moment when this music does not reach the grandest tides and ebbs to fill the ears and minds of the listening audience with the most unforgettable cinematic symphony within our modern times. A blast from the past, yes. A rocket to the future, most certainly. Submitted by Wally Clive Kincaid (London, UK) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

The absolute masterpiece of modern cinematic symphonia. Since the early scores of Max Stiener, John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, John Barry, Nina Rota, Bernard Herrmann, Miklos Rozsa, Burt Bacharach, Elmer Bernstein and all the great composers of cinema, through the works of Ennio Morricone, Stu Phillips, Alan Silvestri, Danny Elfman, Howard Shore and Nathan McCree, nothing has been so touching and limitless in its dazzling power and glamour as this score from Michael Giacchino for the greatest motion picture of 2004. This is a breathtaker that touches all and gives more than it takes, with endearing and emotional love. Submitted by Wilson (Miami) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
