Wednesday 13: Wednesday 13; Pig (guitar, background vocals); Kid Kid (bass instrument, background vocals); Ghastly (drums). Personnel: Wednesday 13 (vocals, guitar, keyboards, sampler); Ziad (saxophone); The Ghastly Ones (drums); Kid Kid (background vocals). Audio Mixer: Colin Richardson. Recording information: Hooverrama Studios, Charlotte, NC. Director: Wednesday 13. Photographer: P.B. Brown. Although hard to fathom nowadays (since just about every single band is smearing on the eyeliner), there was a point during the '90s when "theatrical metal" was completely dead. But thanks to the success of Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie, the genre returned from the grave, as both artists proved that wearing makeup didn't automatically make you a pop-metallist like Poison. By the early 21st century, a whole new breed of similarly styled rockers appeared, such as the Murderdolls, whose frontman, Wednesday 13, began issuing solo outings. With Wednesday looking like the offspring of Plasmatics guitarist Richie Stotts, 2005's Transylvania 90210 is his second solo release overall, and sounds quite similar to the recordings from his full-time band. "I Walked With a Zombie" contains expected horror movie-esque lyrics, although the punk-pop riffs bring to mind blink-182. Elsewhere, however, the expected heavy sludge riffage reins supreme ("House by the Cemetery"), while the album closer, "A Bullet Named Christ," is a haunting, piano-based ditty and "Elect Death for President" sounds like an outtake from Antichrist Superstar. Newcomers to the "horror metal" genre should enjoy Transylvania 90210, but longtime admirers of the aforementioned artists will have heard it all before. ~ Greg Prato Wednesday 13 Transylvania 90210 Songs Transylvania 90210 Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Killer Album This has to be one of the greatest metal albums of all time. From start to finish it is just awesome, with soaring guitars and catchy riffs.Makes you want to dig up your grandmother and party all night long.Buy it! A Horror Storybook This cd is amazing, the killer riffs and catchy lyrics are definatley a hit. I love a cd that paints you a mental picture and Transylvania 90210 buries this challange alive. The stand out tracks on the record are God is a Lie, Haunt Me, Bad Things and Look at what the Batrs dragged in. These tracks help my face crack into an evil grin. I close my eyes and am with the lyrics and the guitar riffs combined. A CD that never bores you. Submitted by x_hollie (Melbourne, VIC, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Great CD Very nice CD, I find this work to be better then that of the Murderdolls. One of the only albums I own where I can actually listen to it all at once, very solid lineup throughout the entire album. Containing lots of great songs 'Transylvania 90210' is definately worth picking up! Submitted by PaulBurns (Perth, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
a fresh change from the usual The lyrics are amusing and it'll have you chuckling even before you reached I walked with a zombie which is the best track on the cd. However, other standouts are God is a lie, Buried By Christmas and Haunt Me. There isn't one song which I would skip as soon as I here the first note. It's just all amazing. Even the last one displays a sense of originality and spookiness. In the music business nowadays, originality doesn't come around very often, and when it does you've got to stand up and applaude and rush down to the shops. Transylvania 90210
$16.15 Liner Note Authors: Tom Lunt; Rob Sevier; Ken Shipley. Both a cultural artifact and a '70s soul burner, SOUL MESSAGES FROM DIMONA collects 16 tracks recorded by members of a Chicago-based Black Hebrew group following their return to the Holy Land. The collection is packed with slinky '70s jazz-funk and R&B grooves, yet a clear Afrocentrism specific to the Black Hebrew movement runs through nearly every track. As is the case with all Numero Group releases, the disc comes with informative in-depth liner notes, providing essential background information about the origins of the Soul Messengers and other groups, as well as how they played a role in the movement's distinctive form of liberation theology. SOUL MESSAGES FROM DIMONA is both fascinating and prime for the get-down. Simply put, Numero's brilliant Dimona anthology is the music of the Black Hebrew movement that is settled -- and officially recognized -- in the Dimona desert of Israel. While this description may suggest a CD of field recordings, nothing could be further from the truth. These 16 tracks document the recordings of the Soul Messengers, the Spirit of Israel, the Tonistics and Sons of the Kingdom. The origins of this music evolve with three soul musicians from Chicago who were part of the Windy City's burgeoning R&B and blues scenes: Charles "Hezekiah" Blackwell, Thomas "Yehudah" Whitfield (a member of the Metronomes/the Pharoahs), and John "Shevat" Boyd . The story in the liner notes is more than fascinating; it's riveting, and it's also too long to go into here. Suffice to say that these 16 sides reflect some of the very best hardcore soul, funk, and spiritual jazz-funk to have been made by a group of multinationals. Soul Messages from Dimona was recorded between 1975 and 1978, though much of it had its roots as early as the '60s. The lyrics here are spiritual, positive, and yes sometimes religious, but they are rooted in such killer sounds that even if you are not one to get with the philosophy, the music itself will simply move you beyond that .While the music is drenched in spirituality, none of it is militant, it is rousing, uplifting and full of deep ...
